I actually do not know. It looks like a bowtie but none I've ever seen before. Like the neck part is clip on but the actual bowtie is a proper self tie?
If I am being honest I would NOT wear this tie to almost any event. There are like a handful where I would wear a bowtie, but with a formal shirt. With a normal shirt there are only like two events where I'd wear one, one explicitly costumey and one a "creative" new year's eve party. Anything else ... with a normal dress shirt wear a long tie.
If you need a tie in a hurry, go to any department store or any menswear store. Get an inexpensive tie. Probably a minimum of $35-45 will get you something adequate. Or go to thrift stores, great stuff can be found there at times for almost free, but it's a time sink. Then look up how to tie a tie knot online. Four-in-hand is probably the knot you want in most cases.
Try to get a tie between 3.25-3.75" wide at the blade and for an average size torso look for 57-59" length. If your torso is long get a longer one if you want, or tie a shorter one with more of the "wide part" hanging down. If you're not tall, a longer tie is a bit annoying but there are fallback options. Anyways if you don't have a friend to help you tie it, give yourself a half hour to practice it.
yeah I've also never seen a tie like this anywhere in my life. I'm just gonna wear a normal red tie then. the event I'm going to is a Christmas school event if you're wondering I'm also gonna sing a performance so this is a big deal for me. anyways thank you for the answer. appreciate it..
Good luck and enjoy your event!
Looks like a continental tie. Don't wear it if you don't want to be asked why your tie is weird.
what they all said for an actual important event but also... these ties are kind of cute?
Looks like a variation on the continental Bow tie
As seen above
