this is wrong "winePrefix": "/home/zoidberg/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Dorfromantik", I assume you must have checked this box (outlined in red here).. dont check this box 😄 you may also want to validate your game install.. unityPlayer.dll should have come from the game install

that wine prefix it's not caused by that check though, the problem is only the prefix is just ..../default, that one is something we are generating (which is wrong, but we did that haha) I'd try reparing the game it should start with no tweaks (though for me, the text was just invisible and I couldn't fix that, so it was unplayable, at least when I tested back in july)

I had that in the rebinding screen of kona, I just installed all fonts 😛 I never check that box, I reinstalled anyway and... same error on launch. 😛

yeah, for some games just installing extra fonts worked, but I couldn't fix that for this specific game one thing you could try is to change the prefix setting to be /home/zoidberg/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/Dorfromantik and run the game again, maybe that helps, but maybe it doesn't (you don't need to reinstall the game or anything) do you have that UnityPlayer.dll file in the game's files?

yep Please fix the road (win) has the same issue (linux version doesn't have sound ^')

it was my impression that check box creates a default folder in the heroic prefix directory and uses it as a "shared" prefix.. maybe i misunderstood your posts in the suggestion thread I'd stick to playing the windows version of games if you have option between linux and windows.. mostly because linux has pretty rapidly changing library ecosystems, and game developers dont usually keep up with this.. so their games quickly stop working as dependencies evolve wine provides a much more stable target for games

we have a mix of things: the checkbox sets ..../default as the game prefix, but then not having the checkbox sets ..../default/Game Name as the prefix, then if a game is using the default and another is not, we end up with prefixes inside another prefix, a mess

Hi, I played around with Dorfromantik a little, this seems not to be a problem of the wine settings but with the installation/download of the GOG files. I downloaded the installer files directly from GOG, moved them into the game folder, changed the EXE to the installer, installed it, moved the resulting new game folder into the one created by the first installation and everything works just fine. As long as you do not try to repair the game via the frontend. I noticed, that there is a difference in the size of the Dorfromantik_Data/resources.assets: 166211116 for the working folder and 104857600 for the initial installation of Heroic. Any ideas what could cause this?

cc @Linguin sorry for the ping, but you might have some idea I'll try later with the GOG refactor PR to see if that PR fixes this

refactor fixes it for sure although I find that game's manifest kinda confusing

@Yepoleb do you have any idea what's the purpose of such build structure notice the first two depots that cover the same languages and files

Oh no i can't swear Best guess is the developer messed something up

I can confirm the gogdl_refactor branch installs this game successfully with no issue and nothing required, it works OOTB

quick update on this, GOG is now aware of the weird build structure, we'll see if they'll fix it on their side or not

Short update for the 2.12.1 version: installation using Heroic still does not work - not sure if this is supposed to be fixed in this version. The game only works if I copy over the folder Dorfromantik_Data from another installation (like Lutris).

Thanks for the feedback, tried the flatpak, but now the prefix folder is empty, probably messed something up - will stay with the 2.12.1 (if I manage to switch back to it, this is).

ah yes for some reason flatpak builds from Github can't access wine

Ah, OK, I can config that. 😉 And I can confirm, that Dorfromantik installed with the GitHub build will run after I downgraded back to 2.12.1

I wonder what is the size reported by GOG Galaxy for that game game is around 600MB but the way it's configured it shows 1.2 GiB in Heroic right?

In Heroic is says: 591.71 (the Installation done with the GitHub version, but running the 2.12.1) On the disk:
~/Games/Heroic$ du -hs Dorfromantik/
593M Dorfromantik/
~/Games/Heroic$ du -hs Dorfromantik/
593M Dorfromantik/
