way of the samurai 3 won't launch anyone got any tips

I downloaded way of the samurai 3 from GOG using 8.25 proton but it refuses to launch with proton 8,7, or experiment as well.

If you haven't already, install the latest version of Wine-GE from Heroic's Wine Manager. Select it in the game settings, try launching with that. If that doesn't work, send in a game log ("Settings" in the sidebar -> "Log" -> find your game in the list and click "Show log file in folder")

yes, we will get a lot more out of logs you send using wine than with proton

my best guess is that there's something left over from proton? it's recommended that you delete the prefix folder after switching do you have any existing saves? if so, back them up from this location

/home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Way of the Samurai 3/pfx/dosdevices/c:/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games//Ghostlight Ltd//Way of the Samurai 3

delete the following folder:

/home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Way of the Samurai 3

reinstall both d3dcompiler_47 and physx through winetricks all other settings in heroic need to remain the same, including the prefix path

at the moment desktop because otherwise it's a bit of a hassle, this way i have a keyboard mouse connected etc while troubleshooting

right, makes sense. after you install those again, try switching back to handheld mode and launching it from there. it's not really recommended to launch things in desktop mode, but it's not the end of the world
