In London and Edinburgh for a trip, what should I buy?
I am converting over from NZD which is 2:1, so my budget is definitely on the tighter side. I generally dress pretty basic but I'm trying to dress more preppy - think chelsea boots and docs, barbour style jacket etc. My budget means that I'm very interested in second hand clothes, so if anyone has any good recommendations let me know.
Some specific items that I would like to buy (on a budget) are oxford shirts, some pants slightly more formal than jeans (I'm thinking wool atm), and some simple but interesting sweaters - I've currently got some nice crew neck ones in block colours but would like to try some cable and patterns.
If anyone needs more info let me know.
Cheers :)

help us help you. give an approx budget in numbers if you can
makes it easier not giving you too pricey stuff
In Edinburgh you should definitely check out Armstrong's for 2nd hand / vintage stuff. You'll almost certainly find some nice wool trousers etc. There's about 4 branches you can check out, all around the southside and upwards towards the grassmarket and Waverly station
it depends on the item but I guess absolute max for a casual buy (eg in not a grail jacket that's going to last forever, just a shirt or pants or sweater etc) is roughly £100. If it's something that's going to last forever I'll splurge, but I'm still developing my style so not looking to drop a grand on anything super permanent
Seconding Armstrongs in Edinburgh, the largest one is at the Grassmarket. If you're in town in time for the out of the blue flea market check that out too. If you want to just browse a bit Epitome and Dick's have really really great stock. Also go to Hendersons in Bruntsfield for lunch or dinner.
If you are already in Scotland, I‘d buy Scottish knitwear, like a genuine Shetland sweater!
if you are secondhand shopping look out for vintage sweaters by some of the renowned makers
perhaps you can even score some of the funky old pringle of scotland sweaters
I'm going tomorrow, I'll keep an eye out
@tunnocks🌻 @casey went to Armstrong's grassmarket, literally the best second hand shopping I've ever seen
got a couple of flannel shirts and a nice wool sweater
Awesome stuff! Glad you found it good 👍
