Washing new sweater
Hey all, Merry Christmas! Just got a new wool sweater, somehow my first. Have a few stupid questions to make sure I do this the right way. First, the care tag recommends soap flakes. Never even heard of them. I’m assuming woolite is fine? Also, it mentions leaving the sweater to dry in a flat position, but then not allowing it to lie wet. My only guess is that it means the sweater should not be too wet? Obviously it has to at least finish drying by lying out. Anything else to keep in mind? Thanks.

Woolite is totally fine. And yeah just don’t let them dry too wet. Gently press the water out then roll up in a towel to remove even more excess moisture before laying out to finish drying
A drying rack lets you dry it flat with airflow on all sides, so it never lies wet
IMO delicate cycle in a washing machine with woolite is fine.
Another big thing is to be really careful how you hang it if you hang it up, overtime it'll stretch over the hang points and that can distort the knit. Also, definitely do NOT drape or hang to dry, the gravity plus wet wool will cause acute stretching. It should be just lightly damp to the touch when you go to dry it flat after wrapping it in a towel
Also, you don't have to wash good wool that often. Unless you spill on it or it stains, it's probably good
I recommend Soak and Eucalan if you want to skip the rinse
