Finding clarity in actually putting outfits together instead of sticking to the exact same fit everytime. Brought what caught my eye and emptying out literally half my wardrobe because they don't align with my vision/aesthetic. Probably more of the same next year but I honestly don't have anything I want rn. Probably just stalking secondhand and sales until something catches my eye
recency bias but these ones I think. I spent much of the year learning and trying new things and only recently do I feel that I’ve dialed in my personal style to a place that I’m happy with
5 of my favs. Feels like I figured out what I like to wear in 2023. 2024 will likely not bring as significant of changes as last year, but I hope to add some new DIY goofin and maybe a few more statement pieces
Looking at pics I took since summer has made me realise I've had a tendency to forget about clothes I own in favour of what I bought most recently. I suppose a resolution of sorts is to make more effort to put together interesting/cohesive outfits using more of the items in my wardrobe rather than the same items I fall back on because they are either more recent or I like them the most
This is kinda a loose “top” cause half of em feel kinda interchangeable with a couple others i saw while looking back through the year. I honestly feel like this was a weaker year for me. It makes sense cause its kinda been the year of growing up and figuring out how to do adult shit. This coming year im shooting to bring purchasing waaaaaaay down and probably sell off a lot of the stuff i havent touched in months and try to make my wardrobe feel more “lived in”. I may also try to focus on accessories a bit harder
4/5 of these fits have Weeg's Meermin loafers hahaha
I'm looking to do more in terms of styling pieces and controlling their proportions in terms of things like getting them tailored, cinching them, or layering them more intelligently. The second thing I'd like to implement is smarter accessorizing through use of jewellery, watches, scarves, and the like.
Im glad theyve become such a staple for you haha
Youve really been going off since the fitbattle
love the fits with the orange jacket and the blue cardigan especially
think it’s been a combination of that + leaving the one corner of my apartment + getting my hands on a dslr that’s inspired me to push myself
Getting a camera and being your own little lookbook photographer is so much fun.
The shirts with embroidered details on them are so lovely and one aspect that I probably would aspire to have more of in my wardrobe too
Do you have someone who takes your pics or are you a tripod savant?
I make my former wedding photographer wife do it
I recommend everyone do the same
Yeah I love em, shout out @TGO for the list of recommendations
I love Barbour
In the new year I want to wear more denim
I don’t think I even posted number 4 here because it’s a shit photo, but I love that outfit, super simple super slouchy super comfy super me
My ethos this year was really just regular stuff but cooler
Thank you, your use of leather is super sick
I don’t get to wear a lot of stuff I like to wear to work so I rarely dress the way I want to but here are some of my favs of when I’m not phoning it in for work. I plan on going less trendy streetwear and more integrating in my work wardrobe this year.
I feel that this year my outfits have become a lot more cohesive but also I’m having more fun with clothing. My goal for this year is to keep doing that.
I really like how you found your aesthetic in 2023
thanks man I feel like you've made big strides too!
hard to pick honestly but landed on these!! not in any particular order. some of it is the fit itself, but a good chunk of it is what i was doing that day with that fit which added another dimension to it all. like a sentimental attachment to it. i like how i'm slowly getting more into wide after cluthing to slim stuff for so long, that's been a fun evolutioon for me style-wise. for 2024 i want to revisit my spring/summer wardrobe. i feel like i have so many opportunities to explore there
I like these a lot
2023 was the first full year since the Superfuture days that I started investing more in and putting more thought into my wardrobe. There were plenty of bricks to go with a few scattered highlights, but I think I came into 2024 with a better understanding of pieces I like, proportions and patterns I can fuck with. I think these speak to that… maybe?
Love the sweaters man
My first WAYWT were posted on Discord. I feel like I’m improving month after month and it’s thanks to you and your advice. thank you very much and happy new year !
A really fun year! Hard to pick my top 5 honestly but I really enjoyed these ones. Really great outfits that also felt really wearable. Also happy that my pants game has gotten much better
#4 is really, really good
Love the #2
Thank you, I could chose a better tie I think but it was all I’ve got at my parent’s house for Christmas
I moved on from basic bastard this year and never looked back
Love your style! Pants in general are super cool and #4 is so good
its so fun to see people go in their own direction after BB
crazy that raisin and gsh at one point were wearing very similar styles and then diverged
wow yeah, a lot of changes in one year
Aw thanks! My sister is currently embroidering the jacket in that one, stay tuned
I feel like the whole Cord just got way more fitted this last year and I’m here for it
Moving to discord genuinely helped me
Fully agree. I think that the level of discussion is just a little better
I feel like my style has grown a lot in this last year and I was very happy with some of the fits I put together. Next year my goal is to expand my color palette more as I rely very heavily on the same blues and greens and start earnestly working on garment repair!
I didn't even start taking photos this year again until like October. But from the last few months of the year here are some things I'm super proud of and think kind of express where I am headed.
Think in my future will be a lot more wider shapes, less denim and more exploring trying to combine my super eclectic wardrobe of vintage bullshit with new pickups
Shout out MFA cord for taking me out of retirement I feel so alive and excited to get dressed
The western plisse fit has been living rent free in my head ever since you posted it
Me too... I'll never get a high like that again
I feel a little bored of my wardrobe, I feel like I could move in a bunch of different directions and I wonder whether I should hone in on things I like and could explore (cdg homme, issey 132 5 both feel like natural progressions) or open it wider to gorpier/technical.
Money
distinct lack of summer fits bc I pretty much didn't exist this summer, but I'm ready for this next one
Is it just me…
The first two are all timers
I just appreciated the moss an extra three times
Love all of these. Your pose game is also strong
when the fit is so good it's 4 of your top 5 spots
Hard to pick 5 because all my fits are basically the same but I feel like these all worked how I wanted them to. A couple are what I conceive as my "signature fits" that I wear way too much
somehow my Whites didn't make it into a top 5 fit but i think these cover my vibe of the year best. 2023 was one of the hardest years of my life, somehow beating 2022 which I didn't think would be possible, but I'm entering 2024 happier wiser healthier wealthier and set up for the best year yet
still brokey
Fit so good discord itself is invested in us seeing it 4 times
ugh

Looking back, my summer fits are trash. That said I do really think I've figured out what I want from my style going forward and have a plan for tightening it up. I need to take fitpics more often as I've been slacking recently, but there's definitely a theme in what's speaking to me right now.
Too many of my outfits are trash so my goal is to have better outfits
Looking at this I also prefer using slimmer brown loafers in my first fit more, and have when I've worn it after this picture.
3 and 4 are quite good here
fwiw I don't think any of your outfits are trash, you've got a great unique style! Can't wait to see your posts this year
I mean looking back I see a lot of misses. That said I feel like I've made great personal progress in my style this year as a whole and I'm excited to continue to develop it
Honestly i think most of your misses were just near misses, i’ve really seen a big improvement from you over the year by just making some small changes to really bring the fit together. I think you’ve really dialed it in now
im with digs, theres always misses but your style feels a lot more cohesive than last year
Ya I think my initial post was a little more negative than I truly feel - I do feel like I made a lot of progress and have a much more cohesive idea of where I want to go moving forward.
What @eggtart! said about finding clarity resonates a lot with me. Unlike them though, I haven’t figured out what I want my vision to be just yet. The second half of 2023 (since I joined this server) was a great exercise of mindfulness and intentionality on that end but definitely still a WIP. I liked these 5 outfits for different reasons, and am listing in chronological order:
1) I definitely got influenced by a few people here (off the top of my head @braindrops and @smiles ). I had seen the trend on social media but didn’t jump in until after I joined the server, mostly due to silly self-consciousness. It became a staple of late summer for me this year though, and even if a bit boring, I am chasing this one because it’s the one that encapsulates my summer fits and vibes the best.
2) Similar to the fit I posted for the copycat theme-waywt, I loved how that exercise pushed me quite a bit outside my comfort zone and found a really something really fun to wear. I'd have even joined the scott fraiser tank top club if it wasn't for shipping+duties lol. The vest+tank idea was shamelessly copied from the current reigning fit battle champ themself, Charlie
3) A fit from the last heatwave of the summer, the pants had barely been used enjoyed the flowiness and silhouette, not to mention it was perfect for the weather.
4) A bit uniform-y for me, but love all these pieces. Wore pretty much the same yesterday, just blue vords instead of the pants.
5) I like this one partially because it was the first post-mullet-aquisition fit, and also, them pants. Like the ones from #3, they have been a bit neglected, although not as badly. The silhouette is definitely different than what I am used to, but I feel they fit pretty good and have been using them a lot more this year.
And I think that’s that. No apologies about my shit grammar, syntax, or typos,as I am very hungover
This is coming from someone that knows noting, bu your style seems cohesive to me, and I also really like reading when you post about your style, vision and thought process of both when you hit the nail in the head and when you feel you are drifting away from your vision and style goals. Really helps to look back at what I am doing and try to hone in what my own goals are.
Big style evolution for me. This time last year, I was almost entirely preppy and basic Americana. Through the year I really had fun experimenting with other styles. The three that rose to the top are prep streetwear, vintage inspired workwear, and old-school casual Hollywood. Hope you’re enjoying my journey at least a bit
None really stand out to me, but I like the new things I got that I've been able to wear immediately. Camperlab chunky Eki boots, BlankNYC flower jacket, vintage herringbone coat, YMC black wool jacket, big ol' RL cords.
I feel like I figured out a few outfits I really liked and then tweaked them here and there so that while they looked similar they weren’t exactly the same (at least for the waywt posts).
I definitely found myself drifting away from a lot of the slimmer fitting clothes in my wardrobe and I see more relaxed type fits in my future.
I also want to put together more cohesive looks. Adding texture and maybe a bit more color.
Really like the sweater in 1. Great texture
I've only really started taking pictures of and posting fits this summer but here are 5 fits that I'm pretty happy with. Participating in this server has made me more intentional about putting together an outfit and in these examples I feel like the outfits make sense as an outfit and are not just "items I like worn simultaneously". At the same time, I feel like I don't really have an idea of what my aesthetic is or what I want it to be. I'm attracted to different styles and still have the feeling I'm playing dress up more often than I'd like. This year I hope to find a bit more focus and clarity on that front and hopefully end the year with a better sense of my personal style.
I've only been posting a couple of months but it's been very educational. Seeing people doing the styles I enjoy, so much better has taught me to refine my tastes. More focus and effort on the details of fits. Less slap on the cool thing and it'll all work out. It's also been freeing in a "kill your darlings" kind of way to see slavish loyalty to brands or an orthodoxy isn't really a thing and it's ultimately all about the fit. It'll be more of the same in the new year from me. I need to knock buying new stuff on the head for a good chunk of next year so I'll have time to explore my existing wardrobe.
Late to the party but might as well. Just scrolled through old posts and saved the five I liked the vibe of in no particular order.
Not many cold weather ones tbh I prefer warmer weather for putting together outfits. Maybe just because I'm usually in a better mood when the weather is nice.
Goal for this year is to buy less stuff and be way pickier about the stuff I do buy. Looking back feel like there were a lot of duds mostly because I thrifted so many things last year. And those things have already been donated or sold due to them being cool in a vacuum but not really fitting with what I was wearing at the time.
I feel like preferring warm weather dressing is a hot take (pun sort of intended)
I’m very flattered! I feel like I am still trying to define my personal style, so to hear that I am helping you find yours means a lot to me
Last year it's been a blast for me! Thanks guys for providing inspos and comprehensive styling suggestion, for now I've mostly nailed my personal style
With the new year I'm looking forward some blazer/sportcoat and more accessories
It was a great year for me! I joined the Discord after a decade of reading the MFA subreddit, leaned into western and 70’s influences to accommodate the rugged elements of my style, and most importantly: I got married! All of these influenced my personal favorite looks.
#2 is so good
ty that's my 2023 highlight for sure
