public URL for projects
hello , I'm hosting a Discord bot on Railway and I'm looking to keep it up 24/7. Before I dive into setting everything up, I just wanted to check, can i get a public URL for my project on Railway to use for uptime monitoring?
Solution:Jump to solution
of course railway gives you a railway subdomain for your service head to your service settings and generate one.
but if you want to monitor the health of a bot you would be better off foregoing a public url monitor and instead use a heartbeat monitor...

can you please tell me how to get the url or if there's any videos show me how to get the url for doing uptime monitoring it
does your bot run an http server too?
yes
go to the service settings and click generate under the public networking section
i cant find service settings xD sorry im new to railway can you show me with ss where to find the service settings ?
close the deployment window and you will be in your service, click the settings tab
here ?
yep exactly
to show as nothing here yet
you just created the domain, please be patient
ahh okay sorry
should not take more than 2 minutes
alright and after that is there any limit for like hours for uptime monitor or for hard usage ? im just asking for make sure of everything because i want to record a video of railway and share it in my yt channel
well you are on the trial, the trial gives you 5$ in credits and once you deplete those credits your services will shut down and you will need to upgrade to hobby
so not based on time, it's based on resource usage, and you get 5$ (only once) of resource usage
it means i get limit for resource usage and can't make more projects if i get on limit yes ? or all my projects will shut down when i ran out of resource usage ?
there is a limit to how many projects you can create, but you shouldn't run into it unless you start spam creating projects, the longevity of the trial plan is mainly based on how fast (or how slow) you use those 5$ of credits up, once you do, everything stops and you will need to upgrade to hobby (paid plan) to restart your stuff
yeah i got it now , but its not that good xD i hope it built with when i ran out of resource usage just can't make more projects not make all my projects down
it's actually very reasonable, it's a trial not a free plan
I appreciate it this work and this is a really great thing
hobby plan is only 5$ for the entire account and then you also get 5$ of credits every month (non accumulative)
i get 5$ of credits every month for free ?
you have to pay the 5$ subscription fee, but yes absolutely you do on the hobby plan
got it , so on trail i just have to be careful for not spam making projects and ill be fine yes ?
you will need to eventually upgrade to hobby, remember it's only a trial and you will end up using those credits up sooner or later
yes got it , thanks a lot for help mate 😁
no problem, is that domain working for you yet?
xD
then please read this docs page
https://docs.railway.app/guides/fixing-common-errors
i've opened on port 9000
please read the docs page
ill read it and try with other port
yes ill now
just gonna say this now, another port isn't what you want
the docs page has the answer though, so I don't feel the need to repeat 🙂
got it now
it's working?
yes with host 0.0.0.0
