shoe tree defect. could it damage my shoes?

Hi, One pair of my shoe trees came with a sortve sharp chip as seen in the pic. Can it damage my shoes? Is it worth bringing them back to Nordstrom to replace (I think they have a lifetime guarantee). The chip doesn't seem to touch my shoes but I'm not 100% sure. Thank you

If it’s really jagged you could probably sand it but I wouldn’t worry

The chip won't damage the shoes, but non-lasted shoe trees can deform shoes over time. Not much can be done since few companies offers lasted trees.

Thank you, does the cost benefit make sense though? Paraboot lasted shoe trees are $140 (before any shipping)

No You have to be someone with insanely elegant and specific footwear for it to be worth it

Thank you, that's what I thought tbh I'd consider it for the most formal shoes I'd get

I highly doubt those Paraboot ones are actually lasted.

agree that it's most relevant for very shapely and elegant shoes. i dont know if paraboot sells lasted trees. but depending on the model and what you're already spending on the shoes, $140 for shoe trees may be worth it. supposedly, you used to be able to get lasted trees from springline, who makes lasts for most makers. but i dont know if they still offer that
