I dont buy it so much
I dont think its a real aesthetic or whatever it seems pretty indefinable
Add a -core suffix to anything.
But maybe useful for setting the vibe for how you put fits together
The biggest flaw is that it seems to be about dressing in an inconsidered way but as soon as you put thought to it i feel like that magic is gone
dark academia and bookcore and other vibes based terms are useful for narrowing down the actual styles that you like

Bookcore is an amalgamation of the last five years of trends: normcore, gorpcore, dadcore, vintage, 1990s sportswear, American trad, Westernwear, Native American jewelry, pleats, dad caps, wide-legged trousers, oversized eyewear, Balmacaans, leather blazers, Patagonia, chunky sneakers, intentionally ugly shoes, etc. When rolled into one glorious outfit, this is the aesthetic of your bookstore regularDerek really did just leave out streetwear and milsurp.

A TikTok home-décor trend has irked some bibliophiles.
I’m going to try to get very specific joke “cores” to become popular. My first will be “I’m definitely not concealed carrying-core”. 5.11 pants, Salomon hiking boots, baggy shirt sleeve plaid button up shirt, Oakley sunglasses, flat dark earth or coyote brown American flag hat. Alternatives are swap any item out for something under armor.
Maybe going-for-a-dog-walk-core is up next? Sweatshirt, yoga pants, slip on shoes and accessorize with a fanny pack
