Yakuza 5 Crashing at Cutscenes

So despite multiple reports on ProtonDB saying everything runs with newer Proton versions, I cannot get Yakuza 5 to play the opening cutscene without the game crashing. I've tried multiple Wine-GE versions (5-23 though 5-25, and Wine GE Latest) and Proton GE versions (Proton GE 5-23 though 5-27). I'm using both a Steam Deck and a PC with Nobara 39 (Fedora based). GE 5-23 is a minimum requirement as it has a patch specifically for cutscene audio (older versions the audio would get skipped and out of sync).

sure thing that log will probably produce a lot of d3d messages, which usually means that d3dcompiler_47 from winetricks is needed, and if that doesn't solve it then d3dcompiler_43

it's still saying 23 are you sure that in the game settings for yakuza specifically you changed it? globally won't affect it 47 first, then 43 try them one at a time

ok that time it says 5-25 The game is launching. What happens is it opens, I see the SEGA splash screen, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, "REAL YAKUZA USE A GAME PAD", then it crashes when a video is supposed to play People playing the Steam version don't seem to have this issue at all

yes kinda cutscene is playing but freezes every few seconds and the plays fast to catch back up

ok using Proton 5-27 and Steam Runtime has fixed the stuttering but there are some artifacts in the video. Weird part is trying this before resulted in the game not playing at all'

just head over to game settings, click on run exe in prefix, navigate to the place where the game is installed and run executables from that dir

there are 3 folders, DirectX which has a bunch of .cab files and DXSETUP.exe, MSVC2015_x64 which has vcredist_x64.exe, and MSVC2017_x64 which has vcredist_x64.exe

I'm fine with a few artifacts, Y4 had that in the opening video but never in game I'm uninstalling everything and starting over, let's see what happens No change after a reinstall If I could use Steam Runtime while in Game mode I would just use Proton GE and it would work, but that doesn't seem like an option I think I may just have to run Yakuza 5 in desktop mode only, or buy it again on Steam.

No change I have played some of the game, it seems to only be an issue with that opening cutscene Wild update on this, despite having the exact same wine version, env variables, steps done, etc etc Y5 will not run on my PC but runs fine on my Steam Deck and I have no idea what is different

So uh... Yakuza broke again... I updated to the new 550 driver on Nvidia and now I get the beginning of the intro playing at like 4fps and extremely choppy audio I'm getting errors of "Wine preloader crashed"
