For reference: The Play button turns yellow and says "playing" for a split-second before reverting. No error message displayed.

"autoInstallDxvk": false, "autoInstallVkd3d": false, turn both of these options on

FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/run/media/deck/dbf2595f-b4dc-44c6-8403-06d35d33508e/Heroic/Unreal Tournament GOTY/System/system' Track down this file (In addition to the above) DXVK and VKD3D should be enabled globally as well. You’ll almost never need to disable them, and most Windows games won’t work without them

Just opened the game files on my PC install and "system/system" doesn't seem to exist. I have no idea why it would. Enabling those other things globally too.

Reverify the files It’s in the … menu I think

Even after a fresh download?

With your connection to GOG being slow/spotty, yes hahah

Ah, christ. Anyway, yeah. I've noticed my connection to Epic is pretty spotty, and updating stuff via Discover is slow too.

I’m noticing a trend here

I don't have as many issues with my connection on PC, is there some Steam Deck setting that interferes with connection speed in Desktop mode?

There’s a setting to disable WiFi power management in the Developer menu Try turning that setting on Enable developer mode in Settings, System or General Then a new Developer menu will be in the bottom of the settings menu

Gotcha, will look for that. Anyway, UT GOTY downloaded Downloaded from fresh, still no dice. Clicked Verify and Repair, still no dice.

try digging through the files in the game folder to see if there's an .exe I wonder if there might be an issue because this game was delisted

I recalled the "system/system" bug, and noticed there was an uppercase System folder and a lowercase "system" folder. I dragged one into another like that error stand said

Got that And yes, there is definitely an "UnrealTournament.exe" file

are these folders in the same folder? because it's looking for Unreal Tournament GOTY/System/system I don't have this one, so I can't look through the files myself

wise-whiteOP17mo ago
The folders were right next to each other, but I dragged the "system" folder into "System" as the file path shows

maybe try just setting UnrealTournament.exe as the alternative exe

Contents of that "system" folder:

Alright, I'll try that.

what's in System?

I think System and system are supposed to be the same folder, but there might have been a case sensitivity issue at some point because looking at SteamDB and searching through some of the files in system, they look like they belong in System

fair-rose17mo ago
SteamDB
Depot 13241 (Unreal Tournament content)
SteamDB record for Depot 13241 (Unreal Tournament content). There are 1 manifests recorded.

wise-whiteOP17mo ago
I'll try that.

so collapse the system folders together, set the .exe as the alternative
wise-white
wise-whiteOP17mo ago
Nope, still get the Critical Error At Startup thing

Post a log after that run
