Isn

The
only
exception where it would benefit are kernel modules who need to be signed with a certain key

OP

yeah say you want to use a mainline kernel in arch
, every update you spend 45 min compiling it
A

whereas copr builds the package

also makes sense to have reproducible builds to build it on red hats

also you can be sure the package built the binary which is not true with github actions
. Essentially its the same security as AUR but no compilation

0 downside for us

sure copr compiling the kernel might take 3 hours and for your device 45 min

My personal opinion is that it
's always better to compile on own machine

But ahh well

they have the same system and a compilation system on top

?

What product should go for lenovo legion go or steamdeck oled or rog ally
?
S

I
’d say the Steam Deck OLED
. My main reasoning is cost
-to
-performance
, longer battery life
, and I basically live or die by these trackpads
A
Al-Mumin

So u recommend steamdeck oled more than any new handheld deck

It
’s definitely where I would recommend starting

S

Lower barrier of entry
, Valve is actively and constantly developing it
, and you don
’t have to stress Windows having a really shitty handheld experience

A

OP

Apart from the lower wattage
, if you
're fine with SteamOS get the SD OLED
A
antheas
OP
•
2/6/24, 1:22 PM
Higher wattage will wield better perf docked and the SD screen has potato resolution
A
antheas
OP
•
2/6/24, 1:22 PM
800p is usable for games and close to the render target you
'll have on battery
, but 1080p to 2k is nicer to look at when it comes to text at least
A
antheas
OP
•
2/6/24, 1:23 PM
Controller wise the legion go matches the SD OLED minus the left touchpad and stick touch detection
A
antheas
OP
•
2/6/24, 1:23 PM
And the ally is lighter
A
antheas
OP
•
2/6/24, 1:24 PM
And both can be found cheaper than the steam deck in a lot of countries
