fall guys performance
I was previously playing FG via steam version but tried out Heroic to see if it would fix my low FPS. I used to get solid 144 and now I am barely pushing 40 with vsync disabled.
I noticed it does not cause my GPU to boost the clock speed when the game is running (see pic)
I tried installing and enabling
gamemode
but I don't think it has made a difference.57 Replies

"autoInstallDxvk": false, "autoInstallVkd3d": false,Enable these

Did you try use mesa-git?
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
you mean swap
mesa
for mesa-git
package?stormy-gold•17mo ago
Yes
Or build new latest stable Mesa.
Maybe works better with your GPU.
Before that, try use a new version of Wine-GE.
Any reason to use version GE-Proton7-43?
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
i was trying 8-26 and it wasnt booting the game, but now it seems to work...
but now still with 8-26 and also mesa-git, i am still getting 40fps
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
stormy-gold•17mo ago
Did you reboot after install mesa-git?
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
nope. i try in ~30 mins
stormy-gold•17mo ago
This problem occours on another game?
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
nope. although, fall guys is the only heroic game i have tried
still 40fps after restart 😔
stormy-gold•17mo ago
Oh! That's weird!
national-gold•17mo ago
this is flatpak
installing mesa-git on host won't make any difference
send a new log btw
game is still working with great FPS here with RX 6800
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
i can switch back to aur version but it seemed flatpak was more recommended
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
national-gold•17mo ago
Try aur version
For game launchers I generally stay away from flatpak
other-emerald•17mo ago
here's my log from the flatpak as well. it's largely repetitive after line 1400, but I included it for completeness. the environment variable is for an unrelated audio issue and won't help you here.

other-emerald•17mo ago
I suspect you're missing some vulkan or mesa flatpak package to bridge the gap between the host and the flatpak runtime. try the AUR version as suggested earlier to see if that changes anything
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
AUR version log
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
same issue, gpu is still not boosting
other-emerald•17mo ago
can you run
ls /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/
?
although your log does point to RADV being used
can you use mangohud to see if it's trying to render your game with DXVK or OpenGL?conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
would you recommend nonvidia pkg?

other-emerald•17mo ago
you're missing the 32-bit package:
lib32-vulkan-radeon
git should be okconventional-tanOP•17mo ago
ok thx, installed it
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago

other-emerald•17mo ago
give it a reboot for good measure after installing the package
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
sure
other-emerald•17mo ago
oh wait, is
amd_icd32.json
from amdvlk
you should uninstall amdvlk
if that's the caseconventional-tanOP•17mo ago
how can i check if it's from that pkg?
on aur site for
amdvlk
it says Provides: amdvlk, vulkan-amdvlk, vulkan-driver
other-emerald•17mo ago
pacman -Qs amdvlk
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
other-emerald•17mo ago
uninstall that
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
ok and will restart brb
still the same 😔

Check GPU usage
And check GPU power draw

other-emerald•17mo ago
your utilization looks relatively low if it's floating in the 9% range. I have a 7900xt, and I tend to sit at around 13-17% in the main menu

conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
ya, definitely right, it should be using more. Just tested Abzu on heroic and it performs well as you would expect

other-emerald•17mo ago
can you put this into
~/.config/MangoHud
? I added a whole bunch of data points to the config so we can see some more details in MangoHud so you don't have to tab out to the system montiorconventional-tanOP•17mo ago
sure
other-emerald•17mo ago
sorry let me fix that file
other-emerald•17mo ago
other-emerald•17mo ago
I had my user name at the bottom for the output folder, I fixed it to be yours
also provide your graphics settings from the in-game menu
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
should the path be ~/.config/MangoHud/MangoHud.conf ?
other-emerald•17mo ago
yes
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago

conventional-tanOP•17mo ago
using "low" preset
conventional-tanOP•17mo ago

national-gold•17mo ago
Try using corectrl to force a higher power mode
