Region request: Tokyo (ap-northeast-1)
We've been hosting PostgreSQL ourselves, however, Neon looks nice and I would love to use it, but it's known that Japan to Singapore is further away than many non-Asian people think and there is no reliable network path...

@Mike J It often doesn't work very well. All it does is more or less reduce the extra hops and caching, which often doesn't do much good in large, real-time applications. The speed of light is too slow!
@Mike J PlanetScale has more regions, including Tokyo. But... You know what I mean. I just want to use PostgreSQL...
To be honest, I feel quite a lot of people are interested in Neon in Japan, but most of them have decided against it due to the lack of region(s). I would like to see the Tokyo region and hold workshops using Neon in Japan and/or use Neon in our AI startup!
Then, you might have a question as to why you haven't received requests from them, but many Japanese have a strong sense that they are not good at English, and they are not good at making requests π€·ββοΈ

For now, we moved to Neon Singapore with 10 projects.
Of course, we use Neon with PolyScale, but it's not bad but it's not very good...

Even the closest Singapore region has non-negligible latency when accessed from Japan, so I too would like to use a Tokyo region.

Hey folks, I'm loving the request for a region in Japan. I have to ask, would these be for production workloads on our paid plans? If so, can you DM me your emails to associate with these requests? This gives them more weight.

We've been experimenting with PolyScale and have found that their caching strategy does not work very well for us. WE WANT THE TOKYO REGION ASAP!!

I think it's a good idea because the Osaka region actually has better latency from Korea and Hong Kong. (I would love to use Neon from Hong Kong as well...)

I am waiting for the addition of a Tokyo Region.
The product I am developing is currently using PostgreSQL from Fly.io, but I will migrate when Neon's Tokyo Region is added.
(Yes, of course, this is for production with a paid plan.)
The Singapore region is not practical due to latency issues.

Wondering if it is possible to get confirmation about the next regions, and of course if Tokyo is one of them.
We'd love to give our customers an even smoother experience by connecting to a region closer to them.

aws-sa-east-1. Team is currently focus on differnet priorities. Please vote for Tokyo here: https://neon.com/docs/introduction/regions#request-a-region. This helps us a ton to determine customer preferences. πvariable-limeβ’7d ago
