GTAV Rockstar can't connect to game services
Maybe someone can help me here. I am trying to play gta v with heroic games launcher. It worked perfectly for a few days but since today when starting the game, rockstar games launcher tells me it can't connect to the rockstar games services (code 134). I already tried reinstalling gta, the wine prefix, changing wine version. (I also installed GTAV in lutris and it works,)

So to provide more info:
I run GTA V from Epic Games using Heroic launcher on Steam Deck.
I followed steps from here: https://github.com/CommandMC/EpicLinux/wiki/GTA-V---Heroic-specific-guide
After logging in I see Rockstar shop. Then I restart rockstar launcher (as expected in the tutorial).
Rockstar launcher tries to connect, but fails and shows screen attached (Polish language, but I believe you will know, the error screen)

Yeah, it the exact same problem for me. Just starting the rockstar games club works (but i can't play gta that way)
Using lutris works.

same problem, it doesn't matter which wine version i use, running launcher on the prefix has the "Buy now" button in place so can't launch through that

There should be a install script in lutris for GTA V. It basically installs the epic games store, which will download the rockstar launcher and you can import gta if you have it installed already

if you need epic installed to run the game, you can also install the epic games launcher inside the GTAV prefix with the Run EXE on Prefix option in the game's settings in heroic
that might work (unless lutris does something else)

The problem I think is happening is that the rockstar games launcher is detecting my steam deck as windows 7 or 8. They stoped the support for the w7 and 8
Thats why it doesnt work with heroic launcher

you can change the windows version using winecfg (you can launch that from the game settings next to the winetricks button)
there's a configuration to tell wine which windows version to simulate

yes, click the settings for the game, in the
Wine tab there are some buttons for winecfg, winetricks and run exe on prefix
we are doing some investigation to try to fix it
I think what happens is that lutris installs Epic Games Launcher and we don't, and in some new update the game assumes Epic Games Launcher is installed
I can imagine installing Epic Games Launcher in the prefix of the game using the Run EXE in Prefix option for now, it might work (I haven't had the time to test it yet)
if we find out an automated way to fix it, you can always import games in heroic, click the button to install GTAV but install installing there's an Import button in that dialog, you pick the folder where the game is installed and heroic should add that as installedoptimistic-gold•2y ago

we don't use the epic games launcher for anything, we use the
legendary project https://github.com/derrod/legendary because we don't want to depend on the official launcher for things to work
lutris uses the official launcher to install and run the games
not sure the reason but I imagine it's just easier than using a third party solution (one less thing to maintain), it does come with extra tracking and bloat though but I can't confirm their reasons
it's not that it's less maintained, it's an open source alternative so it's always updated after some time after something new happens in the official clientgenerous-apricot•2y ago

Appears only in RDR2 installed through Heroic.
In GTA V for example installed through Steam (not heroic) game and Rockstar launcher works normally

After several attempts, I reinstalled the application and unfortunately still the same message - code 134.
Is Lutris available on MacOS? Is it compatible with CrossOver? I have never used this app.

Now I am facing the performance issue. The game runs with less than 30 fps, previously 60+ fps was normal. The reason could be in the new version of the Crossover. The DXVK is disabled and the app is crashing when I am trying to set it on.

No, it has to do with GTAV itself. If I had to guess, someone installed EGL into their prefix by mistake and it will also work that way.

Launcher didn't open up originally due to them stopping support for windows 7 and 8, so I went into winecfg and changed to windows 10
Rolled back heroic and I couldn't even get gta5 launcher to show up

To be clear, what seems to have happened is rockstar updated their launcher and games in a way that breaks when used in heroic. It will take some time to research the changes to rockstar's various software/games and make any fixes (if possible) that can resolve the issue.
Until then, it seems like there are workarounds, such as using lutris.
Remember heroic isnt made by a corporation. Its just a collection of people who work on it in their free time.

It works for me for rdr2 ! Huge thanks ! However I was playing rdr2 with another language and it now only boots in English . I’ve re-installed the game, changed system and rockstar launcher language again (which was already changed) but still no luck, anyone else has the same issue ?

also gta 5 was working in lutris before i installed gpu drivers from amd official sire.. epic games no longer started and it cradhed in lutris after this... i switched to heroic and now this is happening

they say what i would say...? this isnt really anything about these instructions that make the actions any different than if they were in windows
