GTA 5 not launching on windows

im trying to launch gta but i get this pop up. I tried opening rocket league and it was working

works, thank you! I found a way to sorta automate this. Make a .bat file with the following contents:

start /B "null" "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher\LauncherPatcher.exe"

ping -n 10 localhost > nul

start heroic://launch/legendary/9d2d0eb64d5c44529cece33fe2a46482

start /B "null" "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher\LauncherPatcher.exe"

ping -n 10 localhost > nul

start heroic://launch/legendary/9d2d0eb64d5c44529cece33fe2a46482

adjust ping time if needed (i know its jank but timeout wouldnt work) make a shortcut to ' powershell -Command "[batch file]" ' and if you want give it the gta 5 exe file as an icon so it looks right (using powershell instead of cmd because it fixes some issues with the icon). you can then put this in your start menu or desktop or something. when you open it it should open rockstar and then gta via heroic giving you the uac prompt, which after accepting registers and opens the game. unfortunately you cant set this batch file as the default exe in heroic because then rockstar cant verify the game, so you have to open it via a shortcut or directly

i just came back to gta and got this issue. what caused this issue in the first place? i'm baffled it hasn't been fixed. i tried this and got this error

its not really a heroic thing specifically, its that the launcher now needs to be up and running fully before any game can run off the egs store, where as before the order here was different

the devs probably are investigating, but its probably a change upstream has to make (legendary, the back end for egs games in heroic) if you dont want the bodge
