Looking for inspiration board guidance
Hello.
I’m seeking some help in terms of making decisions regarding my wardrobe and moving away from my decades long strategy of only buying retail when it’s on sale. I appreciated the suggestion to make an inspiration board in another thread and was hoping for some experienced individuals to provide some guidance.
Two prior recommendations were Pinterest and Instagram. I’d really rather not involve social media, especially sites owned by Facebook.
Are there alternatives to Pinterest?
As far as resources, where do people look? I’d say my early thoughts in regard to style is: elevated casual for work (ie: chinos, tshirt, cardigan, boots or sneakers) and simple choices for non work (ie: plain tshirts, graphic t’s, jeans or shorts) I live in Florida which means I don’t have many opportunities to wear layers, unfortunately.

Well there’s #waywt
Brand lookbooks
here's some older florida summer inspo from one of the mfa guys - does any of this speak to you? https://imgur.com/a/IgahK
Save stuff onto your computer or phone and make an inspo folder there if you want to avoid social media
Thank you. Is there a directory of other inspo albums?
not really, i lurked a lot on reddit before mfa went dark, and either have bookmarks of stuff I like or remember enough to search google, like "malefashionadvice casual blazer inspo". There's tons of great threads on "favorite X for $" that have great info on trustworthy brands
and of course there's the fantastic https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1125076626665910332
There's also https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768 which is good, but it's often thematic and harder to apply. Still fun to check out.
Thank you. I’ve used the basic bastard guide and am grateful for it. Outside of choosing specific garments, I think the biggest task ahead of me is finding proper fits. In a perfect world, I would have a sophisticated utilitarian wardrobe, like 2-3 shirts to go with a pair of trousers, that I can mix and match and 2-3 pairs of shoes. I don’t have a big closet or budget for that matter.
*but I like nice things!
