make sure you don't have cname flattening enabled for the entire zone (is only an option to be enabled if you had pro or higher only though)

It breaks all sorts of things.
DKIM records can't follow CNAMEs with that enabled.
Any sort of verification service that checks if a exact CNAME exists (lots of them, etc)

I don't really think it's conflicting, there is no api for non-enterprise, it wouldn't be in base enterprise anyway, it'd be something you have to ask for specifically

There's a flag for it and everything, so I'm pretty sure it exists. If you were asking for your own purposes/wanting to get Enterprise to use it, I would ask sales/your account manager.
