Baldur's Gate 3 crashing after KDE Plasma 6 update
Crashing shortly after 100% before main menu appearance. I have uninstalled all mods and verified installation.

Try with Vulkan exec of it
Ah wait, you said after Plasma 6 update
printenv
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
what is that
btw I removed "--Skip-launcher" or whatever it was and now the larian launcher runs and works perfectly
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Something you can google
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
I am currently moving the install location in case my install had extra or loose mod files I wasn't able to remove or something.
passive-yellow•15mo ago
If your problem is solved good. Reason i asked for that output was some people are passing an env var globally to force everything SDL to wayland which is known to bork that game.
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
not yet. I will try that as launch arguement i guess after it finishes and has clean install location
passive-yellow•15mo ago
What
You said game works now?
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
no just the launcher
for many years the larian launcher was essential to skip or the game would not even try to start.
now it randomly starting working after an update to wine or something. It doesn't make a difference either way skipped or not the game ultimately doesn't make it to the main menu
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Type printenv to terminal then, that is not a game arg
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
also "A program on your system has crashed, but WineDbg was unable to attach to the process to obtain a backtrace."
I think it might have to do with "windows desktop runtime" being a new version since a recent update or I am really just out of ideas.

Post that in txt
My current network has pastebin blocked

Good, your env is clean. Besides for some reason you have amdvlk installed i guess but whatever
Your earlier game log has some d3dcomp errs
Add d3dcompiler_47 or 43 via winetricks to it
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
true
passive-yellow•15mo ago
And see if it affects anything
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
D3Dcompiler_47.dll is a file in the install directory for BG3 BTW if that matters.
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Yes, then try adding it to prefix via winetricks
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
installing 47 only
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Ok
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
No Dice
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Try running the game with Vulkan exec of it then
Game has that too
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
I did. now trying dx11
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Hmm, then something else is missing.
https://steamdb.info/app/1086940/depots/
Game seems to install vcrun 2022 on Steam
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
I have that
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Post new log then
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
trying another run with monitor HDR off

It is the wrong dotnet or something?
I am using 6.0.25 as that used to be correct. maybe the requirement has changed?
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Game: dxdiag.exeGame really doesn't like something about your graphics setup i guess if it tries to run that in the end
inxi -SMGxx

So I found out of that moving an installation in Heroic might move all files in that folder installed of the factory correct installed files. is there is way to run a file verification that delete all unrecognized files in an installation in heroic?
passive-yellow•15mo ago
MESA_VK_DEVICE_SELECT_FORCE_DEFAULT_DEVICE=1
Try with this to eliminate any gpu select blunder possibilitiesother-emeraldOP•15mo ago
I also just tried logging out of wayland and using X but it made no difference
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
put that in this way

other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
didn't make a difference. is that correct?
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Yes
Then i dunno, are you 100 percent sure Kde 6 broke it tho?
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
I feel like it is a loose file issue
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Or it is just like "i had it installed for a long time, now with HDR i wanted to try it and it is borked"
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
no. i just updated my system noticing KDE 6 was going to be installed/upgraded and now da game no run
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Like literally a day before it was running?
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
no like 2 weeks
passive-yellow•15mo ago
I mean day before you've gone KDE 6
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
I played the game one day. two weeks later I updated my system and KDE 6 was installed. I then turned on HDR (which i have since tried turning off or even logging back to X instead of wayland)
Is there a way to delete all file in an installation folder that are not part of a stock install?
passive-yellow•15mo ago
I don't think so
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
Ok so now I am going delete the install and download 150 gigs of game again? major suck.
passive-yellow•15mo ago
That is not an option even on Steam i believe, it can only check if game files are missing or not, not a "what the heck did this guy put in here, lets get rid of those"
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
that would be a killer option/function
can I have the correct files standing by somewhere and direct Heroic to acquire them locally if available on a brand new install?
passive-yellow•15mo ago
Import option
other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
oh yes!!
If that doesn't work I am going to fresh install linux again and maybe a slightly different distro and if not that install microcock windows into my @ss and harddrive.

other-emeraldOP•15mo ago
thanks for your help so far!

Got into main menu and it probably works, but I will try actually playing tomorrow. I uninstalled the game, the wine prefix, and the wine game space. Either my game install was borked even after twice verifying files (probably because verify and repair doesn't remove files that shouldn't be there) or my wine install was messed up.
