new shoes buying advice

I’m looking at buying some new shoes but I’m between which to get, or which to get first. My options are the popular Adidas Sambas, or other lightweight sneakers, Birkenstock Boston, and the Mongrel K9 slip-on boot. Each one is very different and for a different purpose. The Sambas for fun, stylish, easy casual styling. Whilst the boots could be both casual and work appropriate and are comfortable and easy to put on, especially when it gets colder. Lastly the Birkenstocks Bostons are an interesting choice for casual wear and for home use. They’d be the most limited and the most expensive. Any thoughts or recommendations?

They're all good options I wouldn't think of the blundstones as anything more than casual, but guess it depends on the workplace!

They’re not Blundstones, they’re Mongrel K9’s. They are still Australian made unlike Blundstones @tunnocks🌻 ^ I’m a casual language teacher at a college so it’s nothing too formal

How many shoes do you want to get? Are you looking to get 1 out of the proposed 3? 2 out of the 3? I would probably get the pair that covers a style you don't have atm and feel is the most versatile (if you're stagnating how much you buy at once) I've never seen those Mongrel K9 before but they're really nice! I personally like the shape more than the Redbacks, they feel quite versatile

I’d probably go with 2/3 but I am trying not to buy so many shoes to add to my collection haha I’ve only had lace up boots like Docs and Timberlands so they’d be something I don’t have I do have some low profile Vans and an old dead pair of Adidas runners but neither are that versatile or fresh

Ah I see, are you located in AUS? Would the Chelsea boots be uncomfortably warm in the current season?

I rarely wear lace up boots in summer but I often wear high top converse Average temperature in Summer here is 27-33°c Or around 80-92°F

aha ty for the conversion I would say the sambas are probably your best bet if you want to get use out of them Do you prefer the black color over a white/gumsole version?

I often go for black because there’s less obvious wear&tear But I wanna branch out to more natural colours like tan and beige

I see, I would argue that a lighter color would be more versatile than an all black pair especially since your current vans are a bright color

That’s true, also most of my other shoes are black What colour should I consider? I am also open to any other Adidas or lightweight shoes to contemplate

My favourite has been the black and white as it’s a blend of vintage with some modern subtlety Also the gumsole

if you're after versatility I wouldn't go with any of these tbh maybe the first ones if you can swap the laces to cream but I'm not digging them as they are pictured
