Civ IV, Epic Games Store edition - Wine DX11 crash?
Hello, I am trying to run Civ IV via Heroic, but it keeps crashing with this message even before loading anything on screen:
Sid Meier's Civilization VI (DX11) - No compatible graphics device found. Please ensure that your system has a correctly configured, compatible graphics device.
In the game's settings it was set to run using wine-9.3
, I then tried to use Proton-GE-latest
with the same result. I have installed all the dependencies listed in the Lutris guide linked in the readme.
Feel free to ping for more info (the notification helps), I'll gladly provide it.15 Replies
@Big Iron Could you try installing the latest Wine-GE and running the game with that
Proton's log output isn't helpful

Here. It seems to talk about Vulkan drivers?

I'll do a quick reboot to ensure it works

Looks like nothing changed?

Worst case scenario I'll just have to buy the Steam version, since that one has a native Linux version

Still no vulkan driver installed

Either my package manager is lying, or something else is going on, and I doubt it's the first one

install lib32-vulkan-intel
Oh wait I cant read
Lol
Install wine on your host system
Should fix the rest of the dependency issues
sudo pacman -S wine-staging

Ok, I switched it to use the newly installed wine, it got here.
Now, I cannot click the button, which seems like I bug I read about online before

Maybe wine-ge would fix that
I guess it might be your wine-ge install which for corrupted

I'll try and re-install the in-app wine-ge, as trying to use that one just stops without loading the game
Ight, it worked, guess my dependencies were borked before 👍
Now need to figure out why I need to tab out multiple times, maybe it's an in-game setting.
Edit: borderless fullscreen fixes it, no clue if it's worse for performance, hopefully not
Ok, I'll close this as solved. For future reference:
- 1st ensure you have the matching graphic drivers installed
- 2nd ensure you have the wine dependencies installed
- 3rd, if you already had installed Wine via Heroic, remove it and install it again (this fixes the continue button too, compared to the previous wine install I had)
- 4th, optionally enable borderless fullscreen for non-buggy tabbing
