Why is Distant Horizons not loading anything more than a few chunks?

I have CPU Load set to Aggressive (I have an Intel Core i7-10875H CPU @ 2.30GHz, 2304 Mhz, 8 Cores, 16 Logical Processors) and Quality Preset at Medium (Running with an RTX 2070 Super). I've already pregenerated a very sizable area with Chunky (5,000 block radius) but it still doesn't go any farther than this. Anything I could be doing wrong?

Not sure if this is at all related but thought I should post anyway just in case (apologies in advance)

If I walk into the chunks it will load them and then they will stay loaded but they do not load themselves

Was distant horizons installed while generating the chunks?

I ran Chunky on the server side a while ago so no

The LODs need to be generated too so if you didn’t have DH installed they wouldn’t have generated

well I don't think there's a way to use chunky on the client side only

If that’s on a server then what I’ve seen people doing is generating the lods on a single player world with the same seed and then dragging the file to the multiplayer folder for the server Chunky works in client side For single player

Wynter3mo ago
yes I know that but I'm specifically trying to get it to work in this server

You’ll need to create a single player world with the same seed and generate the LODs there

so distant horizons just currently doesn't work in servers?

That file has all the LOD data If you generate the LODs in single player you can drag it to the folder for the server to make it work
Wynter
Wynter3mo ago
so how come Distant Horizons can't just generate chunks itself, it lists itself as a client side mod
TheNewSky
TheNewSky3mo ago
It needs access to the chunk data to generate the LODs but since you’re on a server all that data is stored on the server And the server only sends you that data for what’s in your render distance

what happens if there are things in the server built that aren't in the singleplayer world (for obvious reasons)
TheNewSky
TheNewSky3mo ago
Smth like that Won’t show up
Wynter
Wynter3mo ago
well that sucks
TheNewSky
TheNewSky3mo ago
You can try downloading the server world and then generating the LODs If that’s an option
Wynter
Wynter3mo ago
yeah I can do that but I just don't want to bother
TheNewSky
TheNewSky3mo ago
If you head to those areas the LODs will update tho

hope distant horizons offers server side functionality later
TheNewSky
TheNewSky3mo ago
So it’ll fix itself eventually just won’t show up initially
Wynter
Wynter3mo ago
will distant horizons save them if I leave and rejoin as well
