NThe only way I’d know to do it in vanilla is just taking part of the dirt with the worms still in it, heat it to the point the worms are ash but dirt doesn’t melt, add enough water to turn all the worm ash into dirty water, remove all the, heat the mud into mudstone and smash it into dirty again
NBut you’d have a constant loss of worms, so you’d need a worm generator( I don’t know if worms can reproduce) as well

NJust take the clumps of dirt along with the worms and have it heated so the worms become ash, and have water go in and turn the worm ash into dirty water, then flush all of it out and turn the mud into mudstone and smash it back into dirt
NLot more efficient than just having a chance the worm moves mid air and into void
