Rough artifacts on surface

I seem to have developed some rough wavy scarring on the external perimeters of my prints.

I am sure something is loose or something, as this is a new occurrence after updating/rebuilding my toolhead to RR beta 2.

I had found some loose grub screws on my pulley gears, I tightened those, and that fixed some other issues.

See attached pictures

You can also see where I did a max flow rate test and it chugged through that all the way up to 25mm/s and clean smooth walls....

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Solution

I mentioned how I got a brand new rapido hot end....Welllllll.....they come default with a 0.6mm nozzle installed.....

I just went back and tightened every screw I could find. I also realigned the linear rails on the Y

I tried adjusting my IS and slowed my max_accel down to 7500 but something is still off. While slowing down does seem to help a lot, its not really solving the problem, and im printing a lot slower than I did previously

Comparing it to the sliced view, it appears to me that most of the issues happen around when the print is at its slowest, but otherwise seems fine when moving faster?
Not sure if this is a deccel issue, or an accel issue?

This is what I have checked:
I checked by printing objects with long straight faces, like cubes. I do not see the issue in those. Which makes me think it is maybe not mechanical?
I tried changing filament.
I have adjusted the Acceleration, the cruise ratio, and even checked and adjusted my shaper graphs/input shaping. None of this seems to make any difference at all, except printing slower makes the issues less noticeble.
I tried reslicing the model in different ways.
I tried rotating the model.

I ordered a set of the honeybadger bearings, some new belt, and some new/upgraded rails from Fabreeko. I am going to just rebuild the entire motion system and hope that solves the issue.
If not, Ill try replacing the motors. Not sure what else to do tbh

Looks like extruder problem. Check extruder gears clean and noozle clog.

But it happens on only one axis? Wouldn't an extruder issue happen among all axis? But yeah, I will check, since this is only thing I haven't checked.

The Y and the "slicer" faces are both Y axis, and only issue happens along the one side even. So not just the Y axis, but only one face on the Y axis...

While pushing filament in klipper ui, I can set it to 18mm/s(43mm/s^3) and it extrudes just fine without skipping. Solid filament with no breaks and even width as well.

Do you check filament tension screw? Incrase tenshion 1-2 full rotation and test print.

Check for maximum volumetric flow setting in the slicer. It may be too high, which results in the hotend to try and extrude a lot more then it can handle. Set to something like 20 to test it. If helps test the max flow

Maybe, but it only happens along one side, and only sometimes. Also its a brand new nozzle, and I have tried cold pulling it etc

I am using the same slicer settings and same filament that I have been. This is something I print a lot and mass produce. This issue is new and has just started

I am going to just try switching nozzles. I have cleaned it a bunch, but perhaps, since people keep saying nozzle, it could be a manufacturing issue on it. I will let you guys know.

So, I have rebuilt the entire motion system. I replaced all the bearings with ceramic bearings, and replaced they Y rails with new rails from fabreeko, I replaced all the belt with new belt.....
Still same issues, in the same place.
I have rebuilt the toolhead and its a brand new nozzle/hot end from rapido.
I think my next step, is to get rid of the toolhead beta2, and build the nee toolhead released for Vcore 4.
Im running out of ideas tho :/

I had this problem in the past: Its a combination of too high flow throught the hotend, too high flow in the slicer and poor cooling. Make a flowtest and reduce the flow in the slicer, check the part cooling and print the part rotated to check whether it is dependent on the orientation in the printer and control the part cooling.

Its a brand new nozzle and hotend, as the aforementioned loose grub screw caused a big blob which encased the last one

I'm not sure, but could it be that the filament is slipping at the extruder? what happens if you set the volumetric speed just to a third of the current value?
