Compute time clarification
Hi all,
Totally new to this space and I have a question regarding the Usage metric displayed on the dashboard.
I have two databases and on the free plan. Both are of low level usage and I noticed that "Compute time since May 1" is already at 4.78/5h? I am not sure where this 5h come from? Based on the pricing, I can see the Free tier offers "24/7 for your main compute" and upto 10 databases. I have no extra branches other than
main for both dbs.
Can some one clarify this metric please?
Also, my apps are serverless and not used all the time

Looks like 4.78 is from 18.92 * 0.25 but still unclear about where the 5h limit come from? That means 5 * 4 = 20 is the limit for Active Time?

Hi, that 5 hour limit is for non-primary branch computes only on the Free Tier. And you are correct: 5 compute hours = 20 active hours @ .25 vCPU.
Your primary branch is available 24/7.

Thanks @Daniel. But I don't have any branches at all? I briefly created one for like 5 mins when testing but deleted that shortly after.

I'll check with the team about that. In that case, there may be an issue with this metric. The good news is that if you're not using branches extensively, you should not be affected in any way by the 5 hour limit. Your primary branch compute will always be accessible.

Thank you for confirming. Appreciate your prompt response. 🙌

Hi, would you be willing to share your project ID? You can DM me if you don't want to post it here.

@Daniel Hello, I am also curious about this case. Do you have any updates on the matter?
I`ve got no other branches except main and the Compute Time is going up. (screenshots attached)
Will I still have my db up and accessible on the main branch if I get more that 5 hours of Compute Time?

Hi, yes, your main branch is fine. The compute attached to that will run 24/7. No compute hour limit for your main branch. You have nothing to worry about. The 5 hours is only for branch computes, intended to let you try out branching. I am not sure why it shows that you've used branch compute hours. Have you created a branch during this month and deleted it by any chance? If you've not created a branch at all, I'll ask the team to take a look.

Thanks for your clarification!
Nope, haven't created any other branches yet.

Thank you. I'll look into this.
It'll help to have a specific project to look at. Could you provide your project ID? It's safe to share it, but you can DM me if you like. You'll find it on the Settings page.

Sure, Project ID: little-pond-47400781

Have you tried a time travel query or a branch reset operation by any chance? Looking for possible explanations.

Nope.

Thanks. I've sent a question to the engineering team. Will let you know.

Hi, so it looks like there's an issue with the "Compute time since <date>" item on the Usage widget in the Console. It appears to be reporting compute time for both the primary and branch computes when it should only report usage time for branch computes. This does not affect billing/usage allowances, though. The widget on the console is just displaying the wrong value. We'll fix that. If you check you Billing page, it should show the correct compute usage amount. Here's how I see it on my Free Tier account. You can see the difference:

Hi, I see it too now:amazing:
Thank you for looking into the matter. And I`m glad we found and resolved this bug🙏
