I accidentally switched to gnome, switching back to KDE causing to many issues

Hey everyone, I'm new to Linux and recently did some customisation. However, I ended up switching back and forth between KDE and GNOME. Now, I'm facing various issues, such as missing icons, the absence of the Nvidia server app, and disappearing KDE workspace. Additionally, I'm experiencing trouble with dual monitors and other issues. Can I reset everything without losing my data and remove the GNOME environment? (Any helps would be appreciated).

You could switch to the DE that that want to stick with and create a new user account and just copy your documents etc to the new account. See if that works

make a new user (and make it an admin), copy data to new user, delete old user other alternative is a full re-install. neither we or upstream support rebasing between different desktop environments (this has been a problem since forever on the linux desktop that KDE and GNOME stomp on eachothers files and cause weird bugs)
