Grassroots Outreach Workshop
Goal-Build your confidence and skills for recruiting new members and inspiring folks to take action.
Why?-Grassroots organizations build momentum on the ground. Learning to effectively carry the message will help you make a bigger impact. You'll make a bigger impact in whatever channel you choose to take action-Pamphleteering, phonebanking, text banking, door knocking, etc
Your role-Learn to give a whip ass pitch. Learn to be an active listener and start a conversation around the issue of a pause on AI development. Learn how to push through a maybe and get to a Yes. Then put your skills and confidence into action. Just 1-2 hours a week, spread over a group, will be the most effective action you can take to build our movement. We also need organizing leaders. If you’re passionate about this issue we can use you. The more you can give the more we’ll all benefit from your effort. With enough people we can have conversations all around the world. Let’s get to know each other. Let’s help each other grow. Please reach out to me if you want to take on a role coordinating this effort.
Skills-No experience or special skills are necessary. Just your passion, personality and time.
I'll be hosting a session for US residents at 4pm PST Saturday, June 1st and one for our friends across the pond at 5pm GMT on Sunday, June 2nd. Please add a note on this post if you're interested or would like to collaborate to build out the program. I've got an outline for the event but i'd love to work with someone else to make the biggest impact possible.
