Farming Simulator 22 - The player must be signed-in through Epic Games Launcher to play this game

I'm trying to run Farming Sim 22 on Steam Deck. I installed it through Heroic but when I launch the game I get an error pop-up window saying "The player must be signed-in through Epic Games Launcher to play this game."

I noticed I had it installed to a path Heroic sandbox didn't have access to, so I reinstalled it to the defaut path but I'm still having the same problem. Here are new logs at the default path.

Install wine-ge-latest from heroic's wine manager, set the game to use this version of wine

That's what I have it configured to when I encounter this issue.

I'm seeing the same problems. It looks like Epic changed part of their authentication or how they handle auth credentials and handing them to games. I have 200+ games in Epic and all the sudden I can't see any non-installed games in the library, or get FS22 to launch.

Your logs state otherwise This all works fine for me, nothing has changed, even fs22 installed fine and ran for me no issues last night You probably have config issue In the game's setting you need to set wine-ge-latest

It is definitely set to wine-ge-latest already.

I think that was off and then I turned it on to see if it made a difference. It didn't. But I'll turn it back off.

How do I delete the prefix? I don't see an option for that. I found it in the file manager and deleted it. Still gives me the error. 😦

how are you logging into egs?

From Heroic. The regular login. Not the "Alternate" login. Okay, I think I found out the problem. I think my problem has something to do with parental controls. I've been trying to get it to work with my child's account and it gives me that error. I just signed into my own account and it's working now.

I mean Epic Games parental controls.

I think so, too. I just need to remember/figure out how to access and edit that list. 😁

It's rated E so it shouldn't be restricted AFAIK. Okay I got it sorted. I had disabled single sign-on (SSO) "Sign in with Epic" for my child's account. Once I enabled that, the game will launch without issue.
‘Sign in with Epic’ Settings
You can require parental consent for each non-Epic game or site to which your child attempts to log in or connect using their Epic Account, or enable the ‘Sign in with Epic’ single sign on solution (SSO).

Sign In With Epic is a single sign on (SSO) solution that allows your child to use their Epic account to sign in to or connect external accounts and games from other companies outside the Epic Games Store.

Players can use Sign In With Epic to access games or connect to platforms that aren’t operated by Epic. When using Sign In With Epic, players share account information including their Epic ID and Display Name, connected gaming account names, their online presence, and their Epic friends list. Epic may receive similar account information from the connected site or platform.

Enable Sign in With Epic for your child
Setting off: You will be asked to approve each non-Epic game or site to which your child attempts to log in or connect using their Epic Account.

Setting on: Your child will be able to log in and connect to any non-Epic game or site that uses Sign In with Epic, including games and platforms outside of the Epic Games Store.

Note: this control is only visible for certain accounts depending on information you or a member of your family provided when signing up for or completing verified parental consent for an Epic account.

Having it disabled should have caused Epic to ask me whether or not I wanted to allow it. But I guess Heroic doesn't handle that and it was just failing to sign in. Thank you for your help and patience with me, Allora. 🙂

\o/ yeah i suspect its mostly because heroic doesnt handle that case no worries! glad it sorted
