Subject to confirmation, I believe I have access to ways to mass email MPs in the UK, and possibly in other countries as well. We could email them promotional material for the book and then invite them to buy a copy (or let them know that free copies are available?)

Hmmm it’s a hard skill to learn. Consider the White House press secretaries, do you think someone could be trained to do that role? It’s a level of confidence and off the cuff ability that’s hard to skill up very much

This sounds great! But if you have this opportunity I would previously really work in the email that would be massively sent. What things we should add to it or even if a promotion could disincentivize them to take the email seriously.

That Gov't Action Kit looks phenomenal. They have done a terrific job! I'm reconsidering my initial proposal now because something like the Gov't Action Kit seems better. What do you all think of doing something like Gov't Action Kit in UK?

I think a UK version of the Gov't Action Kit could be great if we can pull it off!

Two considerations here:

We in the US are still developing our Gov't Action Kit and might end up delaying its deployment until after the November election (because Congress is probably going to be very unproductive in the meantime). But that doesn't mean other countries should wait for us. On the contrary!
We'll have to make sure that our toolkit/lobbying efforts adhere to lobbying law. I know nothing about UK laws here so I'm the wrong person to have any insight. But at least in the US in order for a group to lobby for specific laws it needs to have the right charitable status (though for individual citizens not officially affiliated with a group, it's much easier).

Two good people to weigh in on this would be @William Baird and @Joseph Miller . William has met with several MPs, and Joseph has drafted proposed policy frameworks in conjunction with the recent protest.

Thoughts on setting up a Gov't Action Kit for the UK? This could include a primer on AI risks and proposed legislative frameworks (For context, here's the US proposal with more info on the kit: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RubQQdwvCeBAyXwNHWfqfVZukMspHm3R/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=109844502173663670095&rtpof=true&sd=true)
