Wbad shim signature is usually a secure boot issue, so definately correct assessment there. Wonder if there was a bios update that removed the Bazzite secure boot key? A Windows update broke my Bazzite secure boot on my Ally 2 days ago.
When you get the blank screen, see if you can press CTRL+ALT+F2 and get to a TTY session. From there if you can log in from the terminal, you might be able to look at the logs with

/usr/bin/startplasma-wayland. If this works you might have an issue in the config for SSDMWSee if this works
