LoD speed

Hello ! Im sorry I tried to look through FaQ to find this question as i imagine it may be asked a lot but I couldnt find it. I was just curious how to go about loading lods like distant horizons faster. I have a pretty high end pc and even on aggressive settings. It still loads really slowly without any other mods? I would love to use the mod for projects but at the speed lods load, its difficult.

LOD generation takes a long time, even on high end pc's. My 7800x3d cpu generates 128 chunks in just under half an hour What cpu do you have? Mods like noisium and faster random should help a bit with world gen speed

I tested this yesterday and these where the results I got using an i7 12700k https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/902896965354930217/1272662260350844970

I have a i5 13600kf 14 core But if thats the case then i shant fret I was under the impression given other people’s expirences that it normally loads up in abt like 5 mins

For 64 chunks it takes about 5 mins but it scales up the more chunks u do

I see I appreciate the insight Is there a general guide on ram for various amount of chunk sizes? Like lets say 128 Would u want 16 gigs of ram for that? Bc ik normally for rendering thats how it can be for other software, namely blender as someone whos done 3D modeling

i used 8gb and found that the games crashes occasionally (when using extreme graphics settings) after creating the world, so i think something around the 10gb should be fine for 128 chunks

That sounds pretty reasonable That should be abt it then i genuienly appreciate it thank you

Should be a bit faster than the 7800x3d How much ram you need depends a lot on it you're generating new chunks or not. If not, 4gb should be enough even on 1024. It you are, a lot more is needed, like 10 or 12 gb

Decreasing CPu load might also prevent this The LOD generation uses a lot of RAM

I typically allocate 16 gigs

Should be fine, if not a bit too much

I initally buily my pc for rendering and 3D modeling so the speeds should be really fast so

It all depends on your cpu And your cpu is pretty good at multicore performance yea You should know though, that intel is kind of in a poopshow now because their 13th and 14th series gpu's are failing

Wdym? Like are they burning out or overheating or smth This is first ive heard of it

CPU is what he meant, the issue is something to do with then microcode in the processor or something like that
