Ah thats a bummer. I love how the Rhino has really allowed me to feel the limits of control when flying. Like I rarely ever stall the P51 anymore because the stick is just giving me all the info I need.

Coordinated flight is still one thing though, were I have no idea how I'm doing. I just have to stare at a ball on the screen to get any indication of what's going on.... If FFB pedals could also make me understand by feel what's happening with the aircraft, it'd easily move them up to the next upgrade for my kit.

Full disclosure, I never paid particular attention to slip/skid feeling on the rudder. I only know that rudder ffb is an afterthought at best in DCS.

even in most real [light GA props] aircraft you dont feel if you are coordinated in the rudder pedals. you feel most of the coordination in your butt and to a much lesser extent your sight picture. you will feel the effects of torque/p factor/propwash and such in the pedals though.

Ah, well I've got no real flight experience to compare to, nor am I necessarily tying to get the most realistic feel... I've just had my eyes opened to the fact that the Rhino sick can help me understand how the aircraft is performing simply by feel... and sideslip is one aspect where I just can't feel it.

If it is, as you say, felt in the butt, not the pedals, maybe what I need is to invest in some buttkickers?

buttkicker isnt the same effect....what you feel is more of a lateral movement...yeah what @Hiob said...motion platform with sway effect

Buttkicker can only do haptic effects that are more or less unrealistic and just a stand-in to give some kind of feedback. What you need for coordinated flight is acceleration. (6dof would be optimal)

Oh cool, thanks. That was really instructive actually watching his nose move on the hard banks. I might try this exercise, see if I can recreate it, though I don't know if I'll get much out of it tying it in a sim.

the technology is just amazing, but the reality is that there is still work to do for the sim makers as well as hardware vendors and software heroes such as telemFFB before the potential is fully realized

yeah what makes or breaks a good control loaded setup is the software. telemffb seems to be bhe most capable software out there. I havent used Brunners CSL software but i would suspect its close but doesnt have the ear of the 'gaming/simming' community like telemffb does. Not to mention the cost

Ive had my Rhino for 3 days but have been following the progress for a while. I am a pilot for fun irl and professionally a software guy so i really enjoy and appreciate the capabilities that telemffb provides. I must say that after only 3 days of ownership im already planning on either modding my slaw viper rx pedals or building a custom set for control loading. I also have an old PFC yoke that is built like a tank that might make a good testbed for control loaded yoke

okay , it's because there is no dead zone I thought having a larger circle would increase the dead zone and stop helicopter AP being triggered to going off. , Hmmm

Which heli is giving you trouble? There's no deadzone but you shouldn't need one if you've got things set up so your stick properly centers in the "center circle" when hands off. Use Balance Spring and Adaptive Recentering

Yeah, it just depends on how the thing they made works, and interfaces, but on a surface level it does definitely look quite possible to use their cyclics on Rhino which is awesome
