Help with cold weather head coverings

I will be traveling from a warm weather climate to a cold weather climate at the end of December. I have this beanie: https://www.patagonia.com/product/brodeo-cuffed-beanie/29206.html?dwvar_29206_color=NENA but I don't love the way it fits - mostly I think it makes my head look big. I would like something to cover my ears, that's my primary warmth target area. Any advice?
