Stalker 2 (GOG) gets redownloaded for every update (the entire 150GB)

There were three updates so far and every time, Heroic apparently redownloads the entire game again, making the update take an eternity. At GOG i see the update files, they are several 4GB files, but not 150. I cannot find anything about this issue anywhere here or on the internet

depends on how the game is built.. but generally update download size is only something the developers have control over

i mean, i guess heroic looks at GOG in this case? where i see a) the fresh install files for the current 1.0.3 version and the update files:

whose responsibility would it be that heroic prefers to download and run these instead of the setup files?

the update system in Heroic does diff patches

okay so you say that the diff is more or less the entire game? binary diff?

and I see a few files that are bigger than 10GB one is even 30GB

the progress Heroic displays is a size that's being written to the drive the download size is much less Heroic doesn't use offline installers

download bandwith in btop matches the download graph in heoric here

and the patches you see, despite being relatively small, can still trigger rewrites of multiple large files
