Wrong timezone for photos in the web UI
I am in New Zealand and took a photo this morning at 7am NZDT - it is showing up in the Immich as "Tomorrow" - I have
TZ=Pacific/Auckland
in my docker env file and when I execute date inside the Immich app/ML/db containers it returns the date in NZDT - the only one it doesn't is the redis container - but I assume this wouldn't be affecting how the web UI is rendering the date of photos?
My desktop is in the correct timezone and I have tried on two different computers - they both show the photo as being taken "Tomorrow".
If I open the Immich app on my Android phone however, the photo correctly shows up as being taken on 11 Dec 2024.16 Replies

My desktop time...

When viewing the Immich app on my Android phone

I hope I have provided enough details to help with diagnosing this issue 🙂
Hey there! I'm also in Aotearoa /
TZ=Pacific/Auckland
and I do not see this issue, both desktop and Android mobile show a photo from today with the same date/time 28 Dec 2024, Sat 12:59 pm GMT+13
. Immich is v1.123.0, running via Docker Compose. Photo taken and synced from an Android device.did you verify the phone timezone?
Yep my phone timezone is correct. The photos are stamped with the correct date and time. The photos show correctly in my phone app. It is just the web app for "today".
I'll keep digging, it does sound like something on my end is not right.
I wonder if the host environment (swarm) for the containers could be offsetting time as well?
(not sure if that would affect app UI and web UI display differently)
I'm not sure if it's shown above, if you click into the image info ℹ️ in web Immich, do you see Dec 11 Wed 7:20am GMT+13 as you do in the app screenshot above?
I'm pretty sure every time i checked the metadata in any client it was reported correctly.
I have just noticed that photos taken on my PIxel 7 phone are stored on the device using UTC date times in the filename

is it possible that somewhere Immich is using the filename dttm to sort assets into daily buckets, as opposed to the photo metadata dttm?
