Hi all!
Got the above game from epic free games. I have steam deck oled 512gb, trying to run game through heroic and it is constantly trying to force KBM and makes it impossible to even assign buttons to simple buttons like A for select, Y for play dice etc
I've tried running in wine 9 beta, and wine 9.21, and it only opens from desktop mode. If I try to run from my heroic steam app (like I do all other games)
And nothing is helping 😥 I haven't had a single other game have this problem, and it's extra weird because protondb says it should be a Platinum game with no issues on steam deck too so it seems to be something with being forced to be KBM but also wanting controller buttons
Help appreciated!

how are you running the game in game mode
did you create the steam shortcut for the game?
the most reliable method to use heroic on a steam deck is to
1) Install the game in desktop mode
2) run it once in desktop mode in case it needs any web browser or other additional steps
3) add game to steam via the three dot menu on the game
4) boot into game mode and run the game shortcut heroic configured
additionally make sure you reboot your deck if you have weird controller issues, i noticed an update recently made it wig out a bit until a full reboot

So I tried to run through game mode, and it fully doesn't work. It will launch and then just show game logo and spin forever (longest I left it was 10min and nothing)
So this is all from running in desktop mode, and then it is constantly forcing both KBM and controller at the same time
I wish it could run through steam game mode, then I could just change the controller layouts 🥲

how did you run it in game mode
in desktop mode, your contorller is set to desktop mode by default so it acts like a mouse
you have to hold the right 3 bar button to switch it to game pad
(this is typical steam deck behavior)

Game mode I have it to default as mouse which has never been an issue with running other games, and then it recognizes controller mode once game has launched
Shortcut was added to steam via heroic once I ran first play session from desktop mode

when you start the game in desktop mode hold the 3 bar button for a few secs and you'll see a pop up saying it switched to gamepad
anyway what exactly is the issue again? where's your log?

that's an old version of proton
use heroic's wine manager to get latest proton-ge
you should also enable umu

I also am trying the classic uninstall reinstall
For now, from desktop mode is fixed 🙏
It's 230 here so will try steam game mode launching tomorrow.

you dont need to uninstall/reinstall that doesnt generally do anything.. you can simply delete your prefix and it will get regenerated
(which is how you reset the configuration data, which is what you likely want )

note that deleting the prefix wll delete saves, so you need to back those up first if thats important
