What server version would be best to use? 1.8 vs 1.20
Hey Admincraft, Would it be better to use 1.20 or 1.8 as my server version? Both players should join my server and play, and it has nothing to do with PvP. I just want your recommendations. What are the pros & cons of both?

you should use 1.21.4 (latest) with ViaVersion & ViaBackwards (and ViaRewind if you wish) to allow older vers to join
no dupes or exploits

Don’t forget to test the map beforehand when doing this
Some block hitboxes didn’t exist back in 1.8, so some players will glitch in those
An example are lanterns, which are replaced by torches
I only recommend 1.8 if the server is very competitive and have very experienced players, as those people somehow are able to notice the slightest changes
If this is not the case, then latest versions are the best option always
assuming you decide to support 1.8 on 1.21.4, which many servers don’t
