Play button shortcut no longer working after latest update
When in Steam Game Mode, I'm having issues with the Play button you can bring up by highlighting a game and pressing Start (i.e. the menu that gives options like "Add to favourites", "Add to...", "Remove from...", "Manage" etc).
The Play button is green but when I try to use it, it simply closes the menu. I've attached a photo for the sake of clarity. All games are affected. The normal Play button works just fine.

Solution
we dont develop steam
at best you can try
the last one will log you out of steam and re-install steam, keeping your games and saves (however you may lose all non steam shortcuts in steam)
you can also try delete the proton prefix (you can do this through this same menu if you have developer mode enabled in the settings), however if a game does not support cloud saves then it will also delete the saves for that game
if this is a non steam shortcut then you should verify that the shortcut it tries to run actually works (like for example emudeck has updated and you need to re-add it because they changed from using the flatpak version of an emulator to the appimage or something)
past that there is nothing we can do as we dont develop steam
