battle net can no longer update games.

issue is essentially the title, the software is no longer able to update installed games and throws an error after some time trying has passed. playing games not needing an update works fine, installing new games also seems to work as expected, until they try to update themselves at least. is there some permission issue i need to fix?

this is on current gnome desktop bazzite with amd hardware.
