I have...

Is that actually how the env is formatted? It should be
UPLOAD_LOCATION=/whatever/folder/structure
Check next to where your docker compose is locatedin portainer I import the env variables from a file

Please share the full compose as well
Can you edit and use code formatting
It's three backticks
Can you provide the server logs. Also did you change the upload location after initial creation?
Is /share a mounted drive?
yes a mounted drive, and this was the setup from initial deployment
no errors/warnings in the logs of each of the 4 containers associated with immich
docker inspect server-contaienr-id
What does it say the bind path is?
And if you do
ls /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Documents/ImmichUploads/
it's empty?
Is it a usb drive?fixed drive in the NAS

And upload is empty?
need a minute, since I wiped everything out I need to do a backup from phone again
I've since changed the storage template

If you changed to using the storage template and ran the job to move all assets, then photos will be in the library folder instead, not upload
haven't run the job yet
Then the photos will be in those uuid folders
ran the job, I see them in /library/admin/yy/mm not seeing them in a window mapped network drive, guess I have to look into permission now. Going forward will the uploads now go to /library or will I always need to run that job?
New uploads will follow the convention
Only if you change to a new template will you need to run the job again to move old assets to the new
was the issue that I never ran the migration job at all? I now see a physical path when opening a file in the UI

If you enabled it and never ran the job, then yes assets already existing would not have been moved over
from a fresh install the storage template isn't default, so I assume that I would need to make sure to run that job to start before backing up anything
since I've set a default location will Immich always create the paths /library/admin inside of my designated /UPLOAD_LOCATION?
From a fresh install, if you turn it on before any assets are uploaded, no you don't need to run it. If you upload assets, then turn it on, you would need to run it, to move assets over to the new template
If you add new users they will automatically have folders created in UPLOAD_LOCATION/library/user
oic, I did not understand it this way. I thought it would create UPLOAD_LOCATION/yy/mm folders, now I understand
Thank you for your help 🙂
@schuhbacca first time I installed the iphone app it seemed to not have an issue with connecting to the local network when I'm at home. Now it doesn't connect, I noticed that in the iphone -> settings -> apps -> immich -> that the local network toggle isn't there, it doesn't appear it's making a request to connect through the currently connected network. Is there something held in cache somewhere I'm not aware of that needs to be cleared out?
That I am unsure of. I don't use IOS so can't say one way or the other
iOS bug I beleive, restart the phone will work
I got it back, it took some work though. Had to clear Reset Location & Privacy. Then I shut off wifi on the phone to get it off the local network, then powered off, waited about 5 minutes for everything to clear out of the router. Re-installed the app, turned wifi back on, set the settings, then hit the sync button to force a connection, pop up then came up to allow local network, and then the toggle showed up in settings -> apps -> immich. Unfortunately a single restart didn't fix whatever was going on.
