People thumbnails refreshed overnight
Has anyone else had any issues with their face thumbnails resetting after the v1.125.2 update?
It seems at midnight all my people thumbnails updated but I have no idea why.
What steps can I take to check why they got updated?

I have...
1. :blue_square: verified I'm on the latest release(note that mobile app releases may take some time).

5. :blue_square: tried accessing Immich via local ip (without a custom reverse proxy).

7. :blue_square: tried an incognito window, disabled extensions, cleared mobile app cache, logged out and back in, different browsers, etc. as applicable

In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like
fdisk -l and df -h).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.

I got the attached errors at around the same time.
I think these errors are just specific files not finding the face area. I don’t think they help identify what caused all my face thumbnails to refresh.
I've not heard about this, no. Is updating all you did, no folders moved, nothing?
Yes that’s all I did. Changed the Immich version and let it update.
I’ve not made any changes to Immich in the last few months.
I don’t know if it’s helpful but almost all of my people thumbnails were manually set using the ‘Set as featured photo’ option. I can’t be sure but it seems like only the ones I set manually using this option have been changed.
I also import all my face tags from Digikam tags. None of them are set via Immich.
I haven't updated let so let me do that real quick and see 😛
By real quick I mean "please wait for my slow internet to complete the download"

Are you using external libraries perhaps?
I am, would that cause an issue?
It shouldn't, but I'm thinking maybe you assigned pictures from these libraries?
And there was perhaps some hiccup where the libraries were offline and thus new pics were selected

It’s possible. The external library is on a local drive so it’s expected it would never be offline
As in, the computer is on so Immich and the drive are both online
Sure sure, but there is still the docker - volume mount thing

The external library is mounted to the Immich docker container as a volume. Docker is on Ubuntu
I'm going to tag in the admins to see if they have any ideas or maybe we need to make an issue out of this

It seems to be all face thumbnails. Or at least almost all of them that I can tell. Interestingly the id of the thumbnail in the db didn’t change (I checked a backup).
All pictures are on external libraries and I’ve had no issues with them other than the changing of the face thumbnails.
Can you share your compose and env?
I noticed the same on my instance today, assumed it was due to the update, I haven't looked into it yet

Same problem, I've already opened an issue https://github.com/immich-app/immich/issues/15678 that led me here.
Guess I shouldn’t update for a bit then!
