MacOS
Hey, I installed the dmg for the MacOS version of Heroic, and I downloaded the gogdl_MacOs_arm64 file. What do I with the file? I ran Heroic, but GOG login isn't there. I don't know how to use Heroic at all, and there are zero instructions for MacOS. Please write some instructions for MacOS on the webpage?

What does your "Log In" / "Manage Accounts" page look like right now? Should look similar to the one I've attached

and I downloaded the gogdl_MacOs_arm64 file. What do I with the file? You don't need to download gogdl separately at all, Heroic already comes with it

I never saw the screen you are looking at.

That is the first screen I get when I click login.
I can't use the other logins.
I downloaded the newest MacOS dmg from Github.
What happens when you click "Log In" in the sidebar?

I see it now! I feel very dense now! But seriously the webpage should have step by step instructions for MacOS.

Beyond copying from the disk image to the Applications directory (which is common for any macOS software) and differences with which Windows compatibility layers are available, using Heroic on macOS is the same as on other systems.

Thanks! I was reading the Steam Deck instructions, and I was like what?! There is no FlatPack for Mac. I was reading in Reddit one person downloaded the installer for a GOG game and then added it to a bottle in Whiskey and the game actually ran in MacOS. I am playing with a mint new Mac Mini M4. I was running Cloud Punk earlier very smoothly! And I also run Firestorm viewer for hours. I even tried D1X and D2X Redux. The Macs are pretty powerful even though mine is not the best model out.
And even though I am able to download the GOG installer for the game Horizon Zero Dawn it just crashed in Whiskey.

I don't own Crossover. I want to get it, but I can't afford it right now.

Unfortunately running Windows games in macOS involves a lot more failure than in Linux. The combination of esoteric hardware, esoteric graphics API, and absence of a vendor such as Valve dedicated to getting things working means you'll hit more dead ends.
As for Horizon: Zero Dawn specifically, you should create a new post, with a game log.
Step-by-step instructions do somewhat fall apart the second you get out of what's intuitively understandable. I don't think you need an explanation on how you'd install a game for example (you just fine the game, click the install button, and install it). As for the things that aren't so straight-forward, like running games for example, step-by-step instructions wouldn't work either, as the process is different for every game (and sometimes even every game+system combo)

Ok I am trying a different route this time. I downloaed the game inside of Heroic and I clicked install inside of Heroic.

when you open heroic for the first time, there's a message in the Library screen that tells you to either add a game with the
Add Game
button or to log in to a store with a link that points to the Log in
screen
I don't know how we can make it more clear
Maybe we can clarify that to install epic/gog/amazon games, the Log in
should be used and not the Add Game
button?other-emeraldOP•4mo ago
I was clicking what I thought was the login option, but the app seemed to have locked me to Epic Games login only lol. I don't remember how I finally figured it out, but after hours of playing around with it I clicked something else and it shows all three services as options, and all I had to do with was click GOG. I meant that that's unintuitive. The user must figure out a puzzle. If I could click the login link and it didn't always default to Epic Games lol, but let's say Heroic could always pop up a dialog asking me which service I want to login to and then from there I could choose from Epic, GOG, or Amazon Games lol.
What you're describing is already what's happening. On a first start, you're presented with an empty library, with a message telling you to log in (see attached image 1). If you then press "Log in" (either in the message or in the sidebar, you're brought to the login page (screenshot 2), where you choose your platform to log into.
What I assume happened here is that you (accidentally) selected Epic Games there. From there, you can return to the login page by again clicking "Log In" in the sidebar (which you did, see above messages), or navigating back to the library and clicking "log in" again

also, if the
log in
button takes you somewhere else then it's a bug, not the intended behaviorsunny-green•4mo ago
granted, epic login usually requires some weird puzzle solving thing, but that's epic doing that nothing to do with heroic
