Run Face detection and Recognition on whole video
Is there any way I can run Face Recognition and Face Detection on the whole video and not just the thumbnail of the video?

I have...
1. :blue_square: verified I'm on the latest release(note that mobile app releases may take some time).
2. :blue_square: read applicable release notes.
3. :blue_square: reviewed the FAQs for known issues.
4. :blue_square: reviewed Github for known issues.
5. :blue_square: tried accessing Immich via local ip (without a custom reverse proxy).
6. :blue_square: uploaded the relevant information (see below).
7. :blue_square: tried an incognito window, disabled extensions, cleared mobile app cache, logged out and back in, different browsers, etc. as applicable

Okay 👍🏻
It runs on keyframes, not just the thumbnail AFAIK 🙂
Nope, it runs only on the thumbnail
must've been an unfinished PR then 🤔
It sounds like a good idea for the ones who don't mind a one time performance overhead, where can we suggest the developers / contributors about such idea?
It’s already been requested
Oh is there a thread for requests i can see current features being developed / requested?
on discord #focus-discussion is closest, on github check the discussions tab
Okay thanks a lot. Immich really puts Google photos to shame for charging so much. Hats off to you guys
I never understand this comment. Gphotos pricing is almost the same as backblaze remote storage, no server that needs maintennance, and no server required at all. It's not a fair comparison as gphotos will always win the price war if you employ a 3-2-1 backup strategy

I meant the option to store locally, as it would be soo much cheaper to make a nas at your house than to rent storage monthly. It's the option to do.. and ontop of that it's opensource, even better
Thanks a lot
And your backups go.. where?
They're pointing out that immich might be good at handling pics and such, it has no backups so if you don't have your images stored elsewhere, they might be gone if the machine with your immich dies
(Also it is a LITTLE cheaper $12 vs $14, and that’s assuming you use exactly 2TB - backblaze has fractional pricing )
Plus, electric local storage and a server 🤣
I backed them in a zip and native as well.. I just didn't want a monthly recurring cost. It's not like I can buy permanent file storage in the cloud right
So if your house burns down all is lost? Obviously a simplified question but the question does stand
Well I'm not living in LA so that is not a concern
You're not serious right?
