Downsides of running alternative stores (such as Battle.Net)?
Is there any downside on running stores like Battle.Net or others "as games" and then installing the games from there? Thinking on switching Battle.Net from Lutris to have everything on Heroic.

Yes, every game would then be in one Wine prefix, which you don't want.

You sure? I see every game under
Prefixes/default/Battle.Net/pfx/drive_c/...

im not sure what you mean here? Looks like all your games are in the same prefix, which you dont want...

Ah, I understood it the other way. What are the downsides of that? I have been playing perfectly so far
Also, isn't that what Lutris/Bottles does anyways? Install Btnet app and then install every game there...

Anything you have to do to your prefix to make one game work may break another game.

Thanks! I think that every blizzard game has almost the same dependencies because on lutris they also shared the same prefix for years and I played perfectly there, didn't even know that it was a problem. Thank you again for clarifying!

You could just do one installer per game if you don't want to mix dependencies, would probably check how much space battle.net itself takes up though

Not sure if that's worth the hassle, though. As I said, Lutris does exactly the same having one wine prefix and I have played Diablo, WoW, StarCraft, etc, just fine for years
But thanks
