Does the mk14 fall into the sniper category in metro?

I have some friends that claim the mk14 is affected by the sniper talent and get an damage boost. I have doubts about this claim since a DMR is not an SR and I never noticed an difference when using the talent or not.

Does the mk14 get an damage boost by the sniper perk in metro royale?
