Brothers in Arms Trilogy GOG
I'm new here and need support please. 🙂
I already owned the Trilogy on Ubisoft Connect, but i had a couple of issues with automatically logouts and thought i could give it a try to buy it on GOG and try it with those versions. I liked as well the idea to have it really "owned". Additional - I would like to play it on my SteamDeck OLED.
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 - Proton Experimental:
--> wont start. it closes automatically, immediately after it appears to start.
issue from the LOG: "gamemodeauto: dlopen failed - libgamemode.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood - Proton Experimental
--> wont start. it closes automatically, immediately after it appears to start.
issue from the LOG: no specific issue shown.
Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway - Proton Experimental
--> works without any issue.
In fact, that all games itself worked perfectly with proton experimental with the Ubisoft Connect launcher and all of them have platinum status on protonDB, i don't understand, why they are not not launching with the heroic games launcher logged in into my GOG account.
could someone please help me out?

don't use proton experimental, it's not meant to be used outside steam
Wine-GE is rather old now (last release is almost a year ago) and thus might not work correctly. Please follow these instructions on using GE-Proton with umu instead:
1. Head to the Wine Manager in Heroic, click the "Proton-GE" tab, and install "Proton-GE-Latest"
2. Enable umu in "Settings" (Heroic sidebar) -> "Advanced" -> "Use UMU as Proton runtime"
Note: For a visual guide, see attached image
3. Head to the settings for your game(s) (icon on game card in library). In the "Wine Version" dropdown, select "Proton - Proton-GE-latest"
4. Rename your Wineprefix (path is shown in game settings), e.g. from
current-name
to current-name_bak
. To clarify: Rename the actual folder on your hard drive, do not change the option in the game settings.
Note: This will make game-specific configuration data (e.g. in-game settings or save files) unavailable. If this is an issue, let us know & we'll help you restore them.

(that message mentions wine-ge, but the steps to setup proton-ge and umu still apply for your case)

Thanks a lot!! That works 😊
Another, Maybe simple question. Why does all my GOG Games states, that the online synchronization is disabled?
adverse-sapphire•4mo ago
what do you mean by online synchronization? you mean the cloud saves?
where is that shown?

Yes, for sure. I mean cloud saves. When i open the big Info Box by clicking on the Games Logo, all the Details will be schown. I‘ve added a picture. And there you can see, that cloud saving is disabled.

It's currently disabled by default; you can turn it on in the settings for the game. When the feature was first added there was some concern about data loss, so it wasn't turned by default.
