Dosbox and ScummVM games on GOG are not downloading conf or ini files
I have tried a few dosbox and scummvm games from GOG in Heroic and couldn’t get any to run. After looking at the logs I saw that the conf files were not able to be loaded, and looking in the game install directory, they are indeed missing.
I’m not sure if I have just not configured something correctly or if this is a bug.
Games I tried so far:
- Beneath a Steel Sky (ScummVM)
- Descent (dosbox)
- Ultima Underworld (dosbox)
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install a Dosbox or ScummVM game from GOG
2. Try to run it and observe it fails
3. Check the directory where the game was installed and see there are missing conf or ini files
My system:
Steam Deck OLED
Heroic Game Launcher 2.16.0 Flatpak with org.freedesktop.Flatpak talk permission granted
dosbox-staging 0.82 Flatpak
ScummVM 2.9.0 Flatpak

I had this problem with a couple of games (Jazz jackrabbit and Spycraft), but one of them (Jazz) started working out of the blue and I don't know why

looks like if I download the offline installer from gog.com and extract the files with innoextract, they exist inside the
__support directory, and if I copy them into place, then HGL is able to launch the game inside of dosbox-staging ... still not quite sure why the downloader is missing these filesambitious-aqua•3mo ago
Yeah, it's bizarre. For SpyCraft even a chunk of the basic configuration files from the game itself are straight up ignored when installing it.
