MMR / Matchmaking Question – Gold 2/3 But Facing Insane Silvers
Hey everyone, I’m a Plat 1 peak and have consistently hit it every season. But since the rank reset in January, I’ve been struggling in Gold. Every time I reach Gold 2/3, I start facing Silver 1/2 players who seem insanely good—like 25+ kills a game, way better than me.
I’ve had multiple losing streaks of 6+ games, dropping tons of RR (-20 to -30 per loss), while my wins in Gold 1-3 barely give me +10 to +15. The weird thing is, when I play with my Plat 1 friend and all the opponents who are Plat and Diamond peaks, I top frag in his lobbies (like in the silver equivalent), even though I mainly play Initiator (Fade) and not a Duelist.
Can someone explain what’s going on with my matchmaking? Am I just getting unlucky with these crazy Silver players, or is there something else affecting my MMR and match quality?
Also, who’s the best agent/role to climb effectively?
