Sore knees from carpenter trousers.

So last month I got a pair of carpenter trousers from Polo Ralph Lauren and they've worked well without issue until now. They've been washed once and I put them on today, but I noticed my knees getting itchy and when I got to class I saw that they were sore (see the pictures, spoilered). What could I do to prevent this in the future?

Are they too tight? Are they chafing? Or are you just having a reaction to the material?

They're "dungaree fit" but they feel pretty similar to straight fit pants, and they're also cotton so I can't see myself having a reaction to them. I think it could be due to chafing, having the pants rub on my skin when I'm moving.

I see. So this fabric is rough enough to chafe your knees. I would take a break from wearing them for a bit and consider wearing a thin pair of leggings underneath

hmm, try washing them again in a smaller load and then see if it happens again if it does I'd maybe try to put some kind of soft lining at the knees at a tailor or just sell/donate them
