Epic purchased gtaV on macos with paid crossover 24.0.7 won't launch and complains about python mod
So trying to figure this GTAV on mac (from epic games) stuff out, but its almost whiplash going back and forth. I have PAID crossover 24.0.7 and latest Heroic. GTAV "paid" from Epic (well, from a freebee a year or three ago).
I launch RockStar launcher in Crossover, authenticates w/RS, then launch GTAV on Heroic. It complains about missing python modules. The scripts it mentions aren't on my mac. The error that pops up: An error has occurred! Try to Logout and Login on your Epic account. but the only thing that seems to suggest is that I need to use the paid version of Crossover, which I am. It is not a trial, it is a legit licensed copy.
i've also tried using the "fix.bat" mechanism

IMPORTANT: Logs are disabled. Enable verbose logs before reporting an issue. open the game's settings > advanced > enable verbose logs
how are you running the game? before you mentioned you installed the rockstar launcher manually, launched it and then launched the game in heroic, are you still doing that?
because when you launch the game with heroic it should take care of installing the rockstar launcher
maybe try creating a new bottle, configure the bottle in heroic and just launch the game

When I try to launch it purely from Heroic, it seems to be able to talk to the Rockstar service, but fails to authenticate. I DO get a different response for a good/bad password, so it seems to be talking but something isn't getting it through since I get auth failures.
the only way I can get a proper authentication is to launch Rockstar Launcher in crossover, but then when running GTAV in Heroic it eventually fails with the python nonsense (server side python scripts? those scripts and non-standard modules do not exist on my mac).
I'll enable logs and try a new Crossover bottle again. But do I need to install Rockstar Launcher in the new bottle? I'll try without doing so and see if that works while enabling logs

I didn't re-install GTAV (since that'll take 4 hours to download), but is that what I should do to cause the RS Launcher to re-install? new clean bottle called 'Heroic', changed config of GTA5 to use that bottle on paid crossover 24.0.7, ran it but no windows ever popped up. As well, I do have the "fix.bat" as the startup, so I can try taking that out and go straight to "playgta5.exe" instead
So tried with playgta5.exe as the executable and nothing happens. Removed the EXE override and got the python errors: https://0x0.st/8u9-.log
OK, so I have the RS launcher installed, running only through Heroic and paid crossover 24.0.7. Gets to the Rockstar Launcher login screen and I enter my email/PW and it fails like it has before; it complains specifically "Unable to authenticate with Rockstar Games Services. Please sign in again", though if I use the wrong PW it complains about non-matching PW. So back to where I was before with all this. https://0x0.st/8uft.log
Only other detail I can mention is that this is GTAV "Premium Edition" ("free" purcahsed through Epic a few years back). I just noticed that now the "Enhanced" version appears; if this is under the same license, is it possible that version may work instead?

I know users reported GTAV Enhanced working on Mac
one thing I see is that you have an intel mac, the reports I've seen of GTAV working are on apple silicon chips, I don't know if that would be relevant (I do have an intel mac but I don't have enough disk space to install the game to try it)

gptk (especially not the flavor used by crossover iirc) doesn’t work on intel macs

does gptk have anything to do with networking though? I mean, the failure isn't graphics since Rockstar Launcher works, and it does seem that it is able to talk to some Rockstar service because it is attempting to authenticate, but that fails (and as mentioned, knows the difference between a good and bad password since the response is different)
Uninstalled "Premium Edition", installed "Enhanced" clean, new bottle, etc. Doesn't start with the default Crossover 23.7.1-1 (or whatever it is), so switched to paid crossover 24.0.7 and Rockstar Launcher DID start up, but back to the old authentication issue of not being able to authenticate (though knows differenece between good and bad passwords). I don't think this has anything to do with GPTK at this point..? https://0x0.st/8u0p.log
